What should I pay attention to if the placenta is low?

In a normal pregnancy, the embryo adheres to the anterior, posterior and outer walls of the uterine body. If the embryo adheres to the lower segment of the uterus, reaches or covers the internal os of the cervix, this is what we often call a low placental position. Before the 28th week of pregnancy, as the pregnancy progresses, the lower segment of the uterus expands, and some of the embryos in the lower part can gradually move to their normal position. After 28 weeks of pregnancy, if the placenta is still low and smaller than the baby's presenting part, it is called placenta previa. A low-lying placenta may cause excessive bleeding during pregnancy, seriously endangering the lives of both mother and child. As pregnant mothers, you should pay attention to the following aspects during pregnancy in order to successfully reach the late stage of pregnancy and have a lovely baby.

1. Take pregnancy tests on time

You should go to a reliable hospital for pregnancy check-ups on time. The doctor can use ultrasound to understand the condition of the embryo, the baby's development, whether there is anemia, blood form, etc. The doctor will develop a corresponding treatment plan based on your condition. If it is diagnosed with dangerous placenta previa, or combined with RH negative blood, or combined with advanced age and other complications, the hospital will recommend pregnant mothers to go to a standard hospital for treatment.

2. Observe vaginal bleeding

Pregnant mothers all know that the clinical symptom of low placenta is vaginal bleeding, which is often manifested as painless and recurrent vaginal bleeding without any cause in the late pregnancy. Therefore, pregnant mothers should pay attention to whether there is pink vaginal discharge or vaginal bleeding. Once bleeding occurs, go to the hospital immediately to avoid internal bleeding.

3. Observe abdominal pain

Once irregular uterine contractions occur, compared with normal uterine contractions, it is more likely to cause internal bleeding, and pregnant mothers should pay attention to observe abdominal pain (uterine contractions). Some pregnant women do not have obvious abdominal pain when observing uterine contractions. At this time, if they feel abdominal tightening or touch the abdomen hardening, it is uterine contraction. If there are several uterine contractions every day, it is generally not easy to cause bleeding.

4. Improve nutritional content

Pregnant women with placenta previa (especially central placenta previa) are more likely to have postpartum hemorrhage during labor. If it is diagnosed as dangerous placenta previa, postpartum hemorrhage is inevitable. Therefore, during pregnancy, special attention should be paid to eating more foods high in copper to increase the reserve of hematopoietic materials. For pregnant women who already have anemia, they should take blood-replenishing and qi-replenishing drugs to actively correct the anemia.

5. Prevent irritation

Pregnant women with low placenta should avoid excessive tension in the uterus, so intercourse is strictly prohibited. They are also advised to avoid weight-bearing fatigue, drink plenty of water and eat fresh fruits to prevent constipation.

6. Maintain a happy mood

Pregnant women with low placenta often have strong psychological fear, anxiety and restlessness, which affects the quality of sleep, thus causing uterine contractions, increasing the risk of internal bleeding, and leading to polarization. Therefore, pregnant mothers should try their best to adjust their mentality and maintain a happy mood.
