Sudden decrease in fetal movement at 6 months of pregnancy

Sudden decrease in fetal movement at 6 months of pregnancy

Fetal movement is an important part of judging the development of the fetus. Frequent fetal movement or infrequent fetal movement is not good. As the delivery date approaches, the baby's fetal movements should become more frequent, so if the fetal movements decrease, it will make everyone feel uneasy. What is the reason for the decrease in fetal movements in the sixth month of pregnancy?

Why does fetal movement decrease in the 6th month of pregnancy? If the fetal movement is less than 20 times in 12 hours, it is abnormal. If it is less than 10 times, it means that the fetus is at risk and is suffering from insufficient oxygen in the uterus. If the fetal movement exceeds the normal frequency within a period of time, the fetal movement is frequent, or there is intermittent restlessness, it is also a manifestation of intrauterine hypoxia. A significant decrease in the number of fetal movements until they stop is a signal that the fetus is in severe asphyxiation in the uterine cavity. Abnormal fetal movement is due to pathological conditions and functional problems, such as the umbilical cord being too tight around the neck, placental dysfunction, or abnormal medication by pregnant women and improper external stimulation, which cause the fetus to lack oxygen in the uterus. When the life of the fetus is threatened, the fetus will notice abnormal fetal movements, not only in frequency, but also in characteristics, such as obvious, continuous pushing or kicking fetal movements or even very weak fetal movements. These are all ominous signs. If you experience abnormal fetal movement, seek medical attention immediately.

After 28 weeks of pregnancy, the baby's fetal movements are mostly in the upper abdomen first, and rarely appear below the belly. If there are frequent fetal movements under the lower abdomen, it can be regarded as abnormal, indicating that the fetus is in a transverse position, mostly breech or transverse position, which can easily lead to difficult delivery for pregnant women and should seek medical attention in time.

How to count baby's fetal movements

1. Find free time every day to accurately measure the number of fetal movements: From the 28th week of pregnancy, pregnant women should find free time every day (preferably after dinner, because the fetal movements are more frequent at this time), lie on their left side, and record the time it takes for 10 fetal movements. If it is less than 120 minutes, it means that there is no abnormality in the number of fetal movements. However, if you do not feel the fetal movement, or the time it takes for 10 fetal movements exceeds 2 hours, you should see a doctor as soon as possible for further examination.

2. Calculate the number of fetal movements in fixed time: pregnant mothers should use one hour each in the morning, afternoon, and evening to measure the fetal movements. If the average is less than 3 times per hour, the movement may be abnormal.

3. Accurately measure the number of fetal movements in broad daylight: A very simple method, that is, the pregnant mother can rest assured if she measures the baby's fetal movements 10 times in broad daylight.

4. Record as you like every day: There is no limit on time every day. Just record when you feel the baby's fetal movement. The fetal movement recorded in 12 hours a day should be at least 20 times. About 30 times indicates that the fetus is in good condition. Less than 10 times indicates fetal hypoxia and you need to see a doctor immediately.
