What diseases can women's blood tests detect?

Whether you go to the hospital for a check-up due to illness or have an annual physical examination, there will be a blood test. A routine blood test can detect the conditions of white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, etc. When diseases such as leukemia, anemia, inflammation, respiratory tract infection, etc. occur, a preliminary diagnosis of the condition can be made through a blood test. When a woman is pregnant, it can also be determined through a blood test. A blood test is the most basic examination item for checking diseases. When you feel unwell, you must check it first.

What diseases can women's blood tests detect?

A routine blood test is also called a "blood picture". In the past, routine blood tests only included red blood cell count, hemoglobin determination, white blood cell count and classification, and platelet count. However, with the popularization and application of automated blood cell analyzers, routine blood tests are now also called "blood cell analysis." Depending on the analyzer, blood cell analysis may include 12 to 18 or more items.

The following diseases can be detected through blood routine examination:

1. Upper respiratory tract infection

By drawing a tube of blood, we can know whether it is a bacterial infection or a viral infection. Generally speaking, if it is a bacterial infection, the number of white blood cells will increase rapidly and the number of neutrophils will also increase.

Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchiectasis, and asthma may suffer acute exacerbations of their condition due to upper respiratory tract infections, so they should increase their dosage and make corresponding medication adjustments according to the doctor's instructions. It is worth noting that drug treatment for upper respiratory tract infections can only relieve symptoms. Patients are advised to use less medication, and the symptoms will be relieved after the self-limiting period of the disease has passed.

2. Screening for leukemia

When the number of white blood cells does not show a significant increase or even decreases, it is likely that the patient has a blood tumor, which we usually call leukemia.

If leukemia is diagnosed, relevant treatment should be carried out at this time. Currently, the treatments for leukemia include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted therapy, etc. Patients need to go to a regular tertiary hospital for regular treatment based on their own examination reports.

3. Dizziness and chest tightness may indicate anemia

When people experience chest tightness, palpitations, dizziness, and vertigo, a routine blood test can generally determine whether it is caused by anemia. A blood test can help check for anemia.

If the patient is diagnosed with anemia, it needs to be further subdivided into nutritional anemia and iron deficiency anemia. Patients with nutritional anemia can supplement their iron intake by eating meat and vegetables (such as cucumbers and mushrooms) and other foods high in iron. Of course, iron supplements are also required medically.

4. Check blood routine and observe platelet count

When petechiae, ecchymosis, bleeding gums and other phenomena appear on people's skin and mucous membranes, we can detect whether the platelet count is low and whether anemia, ischemia and other diseases caused by blood system diseases have occurred through a routine blood test.

Generally speaking, primary thrombocytopenia can be treated with certain drugs, such as glucocorticoids, and some chemotherapy drugs, such as cyclophosphamide or azathioprine, can also be used to suppress the body's immune function and reduce the destruction of platelets.

If the blood test does not show Y, does it mean it is a girl?

Yes. Because boys have Y chromosomes and girls have X chromosomes. No Y detected means yours is a girl. If the chromosomes of the embryo are XY, it means male, and XX means female, it cannot be detected by drawing blood from the pregnant woman.

In general, the result of sperm and egg can produce XX (female) or XY (male) genetic conditions. Under normal circumstances, a woman's blood does not contain Y-DNA.

What are the secrets to having a boy or girl?

1. Diet adjustment during pregnancy preparation

The female vagina is generally acidic. If alkaline substances are secreted during orgasm, it is more suitable for the survival of Y sperm, which makes it easier to give birth to a boy. If you want to give birth to a girl, you should maintain an acidic environment in your body. Therefore, during the pregnancy preparation period, prospective parents can change the body's acid-base values by controlling their diet.

2. Change the pH of the vagina

If the couple hopes to have a girl, three days before ovulation, they should dilute acetic acid with a small amount of clean warm water and then rinse the woman's vagina to make it acidic. If you want to have a boy, flush your vagina with soda water three days before ovulation to enhance the alkaline environment of the vagina. However, this practice has no medical support and can easily lead to an imbalance in vaginal flora and induce inflammation, so expectant mothers should take this measure with caution.

3. Create a climax

The vagina of a normal woman is usually highly acidic. After the first orgasm, it will become acidic, and after the second orgasm, it will become weakly acidic. Semen is alkaline in nature. When a woman reaches orgasm, the alkalinity of the vagina will be enhanced, making it more suitable for the growth of sperm carrying the Y chromosome. Therefore, those who want to have a boy should try their best to create an orgasm to increase the chance of making the vagina more alkaline.

How to know pregnancy from blood test results?

The blood test determines pregnancy by detecting the hCG value in women. After pregnancy, the placenta will secrete hCG. As the gestational age of the fetus increases, the hCG value will continue to rise. Generally, between 35 and 50 days of pregnancy, the hCG value will reach above 2500 IU/L. Doctors also make judgments based on these.

At 60 to 70 days of pregnancy, the hCG value will reach 80,000 IU/L. Generally, at 60 to 80 days, the hCG value will reach a peak, and then will slowly decrease until it reaches the lowest level at 4 to 6 months of pregnancy, but it will still be higher than normal people. After delivery, women's hCG values will return to normal.

If a woman's hcg value does not reach such an upward trend, it means that there is something unexpected in the woman's body, which may be an ectopic pregnancy. If a woman also experiences vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain, it means that it is an ectopic pregnancy. Women need to pay attention and go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible to prevent the ectopic pregnancy from affecting the female body and causing infertility in severe cases.
