Is back pain in late pregnancy a sign of imminent birth?

Is back pain in late pregnancy a sign of imminent birth?

In the late stages of pregnancy, pregnant women need to pay attention to matters related to delivery, because many hospitals will give a due date, and they need to pay more attention when approaching the due date. Lower back pain in the late pregnancy may be a sign of impending delivery, so pregnant women and their families should not ignore it. If you live far away from a hospital, you can go to the hospital in advance to prepare.

Why is lower back pain in late pregnancy also a sign of impending labor?

I believe that most pregnant women know that common signs of delivery are spotting, water breaking, uterine contractions, etc. In fact, severe back pain is also a sign that a pregnant woman is about to give birth. Low back pain in late pregnancy is mainly related to the physical constitution of the pregnant woman. If the low back pain is severe and lasts for a long time, mild abdominal pain or water breaking will basically occur after an hour. It should be noted that if the back pain experienced by a pregnant woman does not last long and disappears after about 5-10 minutes, then the pregnant woman does not need to worry, as this is a normal phenomenon and the fetus has not yet been born.

How to relieve late back pain

1. Eat a balanced diet and supplement protein. One of the causes of lower back pain during pregnancy is the lack of a type of collagen in the expectant mother's body. The lack of this protein weakens the supporting strength of tendons and bones, causing lower back pain in pregnant mothers. Therefore, it is recommended that expectant mothers can consume some protein-rich foods (pig's trotters) in moderation during pregnancy to enhance the supporting strength of bones and muscles.

2. Adjust your posture and relax your back muscles.

Stance:

When standing, pregnant mothers should hold their chest and head high, lean their abdomen slightly forward, pull their hips slightly forward, and bend their legs slightly. This posture can relax the lower back muscles and relieve lower back pain. When walking, do not wear high heels, choose soft and comfortable maternity flat shoes to reduce the burden on the lumbar spine.

Sitting position:

When pregnant mothers are sitting, they should keep their waist as straight as possible and put a soft cushion behind them. Choose a chair that suits you and sit as far back as possible with the lower part of your back pressed against the backrest.

Sleeping position:

When the back pain is mild, you can take the method of bed rest to relieve the pain and discomfort. It is best to sleep on your left side with your legs bent to reduce the burden on your waist. You can buy a pregnancy pillow. When lying on your side, you can bend one leg and put your knee on the pregnancy pillow.

If a pregnant mother experiences sudden or persistent back pain, she should first adjust herself, change her sitting position or lie down to see if the condition can be relieved. If it is not relieved, she needs to go to the hospital for examination and treatment. Due to the particularity of the late pregnancy, pregnant mothers also need to pay attention to protecting their spine in their daily life.

Generally speaking, when you have back pain, you should pay attention to it, as it may be caused by some disease. So when you are pregnant, you should try your best not to do strenuous exercise, and don't bend over when mopping the floor. This will definitely cause you to get hurt and may lead to premature birth.
