Polycystic ovary syndrome in women refers to a pathological phenomenon in which the number of follicles in a woman's ovaries is as many as 12 and the size of the follicles is less than 10 mm as shown by B-ultrasound.

Polycystic ovarian changes in women are mainly caused by too high levels of male hormones in the body. The main symptoms include infrequent menstruation, irregular menstrual cycles, obesity, and excessive body hair.

In severe cases, women may not ovulate and become pregnant.

To improve women's polycystic ovaries, regulate menstrual cycles, and protect ovaries, you need to pay attention to the following aspects:

1. Eat small meals frequently and control your weight;

2. Exercise appropriately;

3. Keep a happy mood and reduce stress;

4. Quit smoking, drinking, and eating spicy and irritating food.

Polycystic changes, here refers to the polycystic changes of the ovaries. Gross external examination revealed regional enlargement of both ovaries, which were two to five times larger than those of normal women. They were greyish white in color and had a tough and thick capsule. The cross-section shows regional thickening of the tunica albuginea of ​​the ovary, which is two to four times thicker than normal. Under the tunica albuginea, 12 or more cystic follicles of varying sizes can be seen, but in reality there are only two follicles, ranging from two to nine millimeters. The black line shows thickening of the tunica albuginea, which is relatively hardened, with fibrosis of the cortical surface, few cells, and significant presence of blood vessels. Under the tunica albuginea, multiple immature, growing and dilated follicles and atretic follicles can be seen, but there is no sign of the formation of mature follicles or ovulation. Polycystic changes in the ovaries are one of the characteristics of polycystic ovary syndrome. Polycystic ovary syndrome, in addition to polycystic changes in the ovaries.

Clinically, it can manifest as clinical and deepening manifestations of androgen excess, persistent anovulation, often accompanied by insulin resistance and obesity. The cause of the disease is not clear at present. It may be the result of the interaction between the mother's genetic factors and environmental factors.
