Quick treatment of nipple root fissure

Quick treatment of nipple root fissure

Many women have certain health problems with their nipples, such as cracks at the base of the nipples. This symptom is called nipple fissures. For mothers who breastfeed, the probability of nipple cracking is relatively high. If this health problem is not treated in time, it will have a great impact on women's nipples and even breast health. So, how to treat nipple cracks?

1. How long does it take for nipple cracks to heal?

1. When cleaning the nipples, avoid using highly alkaline soaps, detergents or applying medicated oils. Generally, warm water is sufficient.

2. Continue to breastfeed your baby while improving your baby's sucking posture. Mothers can first feed from the breast on the side that does not hurt, allowing the baby to suck her entire areola to prevent excessive friction or biting of the nipple. When feeding posture is improved, the pain usually improves quickly and the fissures heal quickly.

3. During the intervals between breastfeeding, expose the cracked nipples to the air and sunlight as much as possible to help the cracks heal. At the same time, after breastfeeding, try to wear looser underwear and bras, and put the nipple shield in the right place to allow air circulation to heal the damaged nipples.

4. Leave a drop of hind milk on the nipple after each breastfeeding. The antibacterial factors in breast milk can help heal the cracks, and the rich protein it contains is also beneficial for epidermal repair. But be careful not to have too much, and clean it up immediately if milk leaks out.

2. Care for cracked nipples

1. During breastfeeding, it is best to carefully use a towel dipped in clean water to gently scrub the nipples to make the skin on the nipple surface proliferate and thicken, but be careful to avoid using alcohol and soap to scrub the nipples.

2. Mothers should wash their hands and cut their nails short before breastfeeding to avoid infection of cracked nipples caused by bacteria carried by the hands.

3. When breastfeeding, in addition to paying attention to putting most of the areola into the baby's mouth, also be careful not to forcibly pull the nipple out of the baby's mouth after breastfeeding, so as to avoid excessive force that may cause nipple damage. You can gently press the baby's chin with your fingers, and gently withdraw the nipple after the baby opens his mouth.

4. Avoid letting your baby fall asleep with the nipple in his mouth. Your baby's saliva can soften your nipples, causing or aggravating nipple cracks. After breastfeeding, you can cover the cracked nipples with a handkerchief or gauze, and then use a bra to support the breasts to protect the nipples through the function of the breasts.

3. Preventive measures for nipple cracking

1. Breastfeed correctly. When breastfeeding, you should try to let the baby suck most of the areola. This will not only save the baby's energy in feeding, but also protect the nipple.

2. The duration of a single feeding should not exceed 20 minutes. If the nipple is immersed in the baby's mouth for a long time, the nipple skin is easily sprained, and the bacteria in the baby's mouth can cause breast infection through the damaged skin.

3. Avoid suddenly pulling the nipple out of the baby's mouth. Some mothers may pull out the nipple when breastfeeding because of other things, which can easily damage the nipple skin and cause cracks. The nipple should be pulled out after the baby's mouth relaxes.

4. Start breastfeeding early. If mothers start breastfeeding early and suck frequently, they can keep the milk flow unimpeded and correct breast engorgement and nipple ulceration in time.
