The so-called three types of calcification are generally diagnosed by imaging examinations, the most common of which is breast mammography. Most of these changes are coarse calcifications, which are considered benign and are divided into three categories.

Category III calcification generally does not require special treatment. If category III calcification is discovered through ultrasound, regular ultrasound reexamination is required; if category III calcification is discovered through breast molybdenum target examination, regular molybdenum target examination is also required; if the number of calcification points increases significantly, it may be necessary to remove the calcified part of the gland for biopsy to rule out atypical hyperplasia or ductal carcinoma in situ.

The main symptoms are some hyperplastic symptoms, such as pain and discomfort, which may manifest as dull pain or tingling. Some patients are only found to have type III calcification through imaging examinations, but do not have any discomfort symptoms.
