What to do if you have nipple sores

Nipple sores are caused by the mother's failure to pay attention to nipple hygiene during breastfeeding. During the breastfeeding process, milk often remains on the nipples. Failure to clean the nipples can lead to bacterial infection. Nipple sores can also occur after the nipple is bitten by the baby. Therefore, when nipple sores occur, mothers should use drugs to eliminate Candida albicans for anti-inflammatory treatment.

1. If a pregnant mother finds that her nipples have thrush-like ulcers during breastfeeding, the first thing she should do is to pay attention to local hygiene care measures. Because the Candida albicans that causes thrush does not like alkaline environments and will be quickly killed when encountering an alkaline environment. Therefore, you should regularly use alkaline baking soda solution to clean the local skin, especially before and after the baby feeds, you should take disinfection measures. At the same time, you should change your underwear frequently and expose the washed underwear to the sun for disinfection to prevent repeated infection by bacteria.

2. Nystatin is a commonly used drug that can effectively inhibit and kill Candida albicans. Female friends who have symptoms of thrush on their nipples can grind the nystatin tablets into powder, then add an appropriate amount of warm water to make a paste and apply it on the nipples. It should be noted that Candida albicans is very stubborn and treatment should be continued for about three days after the symptoms disappear to prevent the bacteria from resurfacing and causing symptoms to recur. Secondly, because thrush in the baby's mouth is the main factor causing the expectant mother's nipples to become infected, the expectant mother should also pay attention to actively treating the baby's thrush during the treatment period to prevent repeated cross-infection.

Generally speaking, a pregnant mother's nipples will not easily be infected by bacteria and cause thrush-like skin lesions. Once such skin lesions occur, it means that the body's resistance is relatively poor. Therefore, we should actively improve our resistance through effective methods in daily life, such as eating more foods containing vitamins and proteins. At the same time, we should also pay attention to ensure adequate sleep and avoid excessive fatigue.
