Causes of postpartum milk deficiency

Causes of postpartum milk deficiency

Breast milk is the main food for newborns. It contains a lot of nutrients and is necessary food for the baby's growth. It can promote the baby's health. Generally, breast milk secretion continues until the child is weaned, which is around 2 years old. However, some women have less breast milk after giving birth, which seriously hinders the baby's development process. Let's take a look at the reasons for lack of milk after giving birth.

1. Adding formula milk or other foods too early

This is one of the main reasons for lack of milk. Since your baby has already eaten other foods and is not hungry, it will automatically spend less time sucking milk. This way, the milk will automatically adjust to produce less.

2. Feeding time is too short

Some mothers limit the number of breastfeeding times or feed for too short a time each time, which can lead to reduced milk production. The time should also be decided by the baby himself. Sometimes the baby's mouth may move away from the mother's nipple.

3. The baby grows faster

Around two to three weeks, six weeks, and three months are the more rapid growth stages of your baby. When the baby often asks to suck milk, it can be said that the baby's instinct is to increase the production of breast milk. If other foods are added at this time, it will hinder the increase of milk.

4. Malnutrition in breastfeeding women

Mothers should pay more attention to nutrition on a daily basis and should not lose weight too much to avoid affecting the secretion of milk. It is best to eat more protein-rich foods, drink plenty of liquids, and pay attention to whether the nutrition is balanced.

5. Mothers are sleep deprived and under too much stress

Motherhood is very hard and physically exhausting. It is recommended that the mother should relax and have time to rest, which can solve the problem of temporary lack of milk.

6. When the clothes are not suitable

After giving birth, women start wearing underwear again. If they use improper underwear, it can lead to poor breast milk secretion, resulting in too little milk. Therefore, it is recommended that women do not wear bras after giving birth. It is not too late to wear bras after the baby is older and the milk secretion returns to normal.
