How long does postpartum sweating last?

In China, there is a traditional custom of confinement after pregnancy and childbirth. Confinement is a rule to protect the health recovery of the mother. Indeed, even a healthy and smooth delivery can cause great harm to women. There are actually many things that need attention in a woman's body after childbirth. The lochia in the body has not been completely discharged, and the body will sweat due to weakness. As long as the correct care measures are followed during the confinement period, the chance of leaving behind a disease is low.

How long does it take for sweating to stop after childbirth?

1. A small amount of sweating within 1 to 3 days after delivery is called puerperal sweat and is a normal phenomenon. This situation will gradually improve or disappear in a few days at most or half a month at most.

2. Postpartum sweating is a common phenomenon. It is a manifestation of the body's internal physiological regulation and is related to postpartum metabolic activities. During pregnancy, blood volume increases and blood is diluted. After delivery, metabolism and endocrine activities are significantly reduced. The body's circulating blood volume needs to be reduced, so excess water is removed from the body through sweat, urine, and breathing.

3. Generally, after about a week of self-adjustment of the body, the excessive sweating will gradually ease until it returns to normal. If you sweat excessively for a long time, sweat even when you are not active, or the condition worsens after activity, then it is abnormal postpartum sweating, which is mostly caused by Qi and Yin deficiency in the mother and requires tonic and conditioning.

How to treat postpartum sweating

1. The indoor temperature should be appropriate, and doors and windows should be opened in time for ventilation. In hot weather, it can cool down the room while ensuring air circulation.

2. The thickness of clothes and quilts should be moderate. When you sweat, wipe off the sweat in time to prevent catching a cold. If possible, take a bath every day or wash with warm water.

3. Drink pigeon soup: prepare the baby pigeon (the blood in the abdomen does not need to be cleaned), then add appropriate amount of water and Korean ginseng slices and steam them for 60 minutes. Finally, add appropriate amount of salt and eat. It is recommended to take it once a day for three consecutive days.
