Does morning sickness mean your baby is healthy?

We often see on TV that women have severe vomiting reactions after becoming pregnant. Morning sickness is one of the symptoms of pregnancy. It is also caused by hormone secretion and the increase of progesterone. Severe morning sickness can also lead to loss of appetite and affect the physical health of pregnant women. Therefore, we should use some simple and effective methods to relieve morning sickness. In addition, we should also know that morning sickness is a physiological reaction. Morning sickness is not a disease but caused by pregnancy.

Does morning sickness mean your baby is healthy?

Nausea is a feeling of stomach discomfort and urgency that can cause the urge to vomit, often accompanied by symptoms of vagal nerve excitement, such as pale skin, dizziness, drooling, low blood pressure and bradycardia. Vomiting is a pathophysiological reflex that forces the contents of the stomach or part of the small intestine to be expelled through the mouth through forceful contractions of the stomach.

Nausea is often a precursor to vomiting, and the two may go hand in hand or occur alone. Mild nausea and vomiting during early pregnancy are normal reactions to pregnancy. However, if the reaction is severe or even other discomforts occur, you may be sick.

What disease could be caused by severe morning sickness?

1. Hyperemesis gravidarum: Hyperemesis gravidarum is a severe reaction to early pregnancy, with frequent nausea and vomiting, inability to eat, affecting work, life, and physical and mental health. If not actively treated, it may even threaten the life of the pregnant woman. Hyperemesis gravidarum is more common in young primiparas, especially those who are afraid of pregnancy, easily nervous, emotionally unstable, highly dependent, and those with low social status and poor economic conditions.

2. Hydatidiform mole: Hydatidiform mole refers to the abnormal proliferation of chorionic trophoblastic cells of the placenta after pregnancy, which forms blisters of varying sizes. The blisters are connected in clusters and are named after their shape like grapes. The vomiting of hydatidiform mole occurs earlier than that of normal pregnancy, lasts longer, and the symptoms are severe. It is also accompanied by irregular vaginal bleeding. Examination can show that the menstrual period is greater than the month of amenorrhea, and it may be accompanied by symptoms such as high blood pressure.

3. Acute gastroenteritis: It can also cause nausea, vomiting, and even dehydration. There is often a history of unclean diet. In addition to nausea and vomiting, there are also paroxysmal pain in the upper abdomen or the whole abdomen, diarrhea, watery stools, and white blood cells or pus cells in stool examination. The symptoms can disappear quickly after anti-infection treatment.

Morning sickness can indicate that the baby in the pregnant mother's belly is healthy, but vomiting does not always mean that the baby is healthy. If a pregnant mother has severe vomiting symptoms and is accompanied by other discomforts, which even affect her work and life, she must go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible to rule out the hidden dangers of other diseases. Don't take it lightly.
