What is the difference between a pregnant woman's pulse and others'?

Traditional Chinese medicine culture is as profound as our Chinese culture. Students who have just learned traditional Chinese medicine first need to learn the characteristics of various pulse taking, such as slippery pulse, sinking pulse, astringent pulse, etc. Our normal pulse is relatively stable and strong, while the pulse after pregnancy is a slippery pulse. However, the slippery pulse can only be felt about fifty days after pregnancy. The following article introduces the pulse characteristics of pregnant women. If you don’t know, you can take a look at it.

Most people have a normal resting pulse rate of 60 to 100 beats per minute. Pregnant women's pulse rate usually increases by 10 to 15 beats per minute. The qualitative, positional and quantitative diagnosis of pulse refers to first determining the floating, sinking, slowness and number of pulses, the left and right inch, guan and chi, and then determining the nature of the pulse. When taking a pulse, the positions of Cun, Guan and Chi must be accurate. First, determine Guan. The point before Guan is Cun and the point after Guan is Chi. The pulse of a normal person is called a "flat pulse", which means that there are pulses in the three parts of Cun, Guan and Chi, with regular rhythm, coming and going calmly and slowly, and being full and powerful. Generally speaking, women's pulse is slightly weaker than men's. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that "Men are based on Qi, while women are based on blood." Modern medical research has also proved that pulse is related to cardiac output. The cardiac output of men and women is different, so the pulse patterns are also different. The pulse of a woman during pregnancy usually appears around the 6th week of pregnancy. The pulse becomes smooth and strong or slippery and rapid, and the radial pulse is continuous when pressed.

Traditionally, Chinese medicine practitioners have used pulse diagnosis to determine whether or not you are pregnant. The slippery pulse that appears after you become pregnant is one of the important bases used by Chinese medicine to check whether you are pregnant. The book "Pregnancy and Childbirth Heart Method" written by Yan Chunxi of the Qing Dynasty pointed out: "When a woman is pregnant, her blood stays and her qi gathers, and the uterus is full, so the Chi Yin pulse must be slippery and rapid."

There are other conditions for judging pregnancy by slippery pulse: the woman must be married, have had sexual intercourse, had normal menstruation in the past, and has had amenorrhea for more than 45 days. She must have a typical slippery pulse, a rosy face, fatigue and tiredness like a cold, swelling in the lower abdomen and breasts, or nausea and vomiting. Only then can pregnancy be considered.

Is it accurate to tell the gender of a baby during pregnancy?

Generally, pregnant women will have a slippery pulse, that is, when taking the pulse, the ring finger, middle finger and index finger can clearly feel the pulse beating very happily, like a row of bubbles or small iron beads passing by one after another.

There is a record in Chinese classical art that "the pulse of the fetus...if it is fast on the left, it is a boy; if it is fast on the right, it is a girl. If we use the pulse to identify people, the pulses of men and women are the same, but the pulses of the left and right are different. The yang is weak and the yin is strong. The left is in charge of officials, and the right is in charge of the government. The left is generally a boy, and the right is generally a girl." "If it is fast on the left, it is a boy; if it is fast on the right, it is a girl" probably means that if the pulse on the left is beating more obviously, it is a boy, and if the pulse on the right is beating more obviously, it is a girl. In fact, it is not scientific to determine the boy or girl during pregnancy by taking the pulse.

Methods for identifying the sex of the fetus DNA blood test

If the pregnant woman has been confirmed to be 8 weeks pregnant through B-ultrasound and the fetus is normal, the sex of the fetus can be measured with an accuracy rate of up to 98%. More importantly, this method will not cause any impact on the pregnant woman and the fetus.

Chorionic villus sampling

Pregnant women can undergo chorionic villus sampling at 10-12 weeks of pregnancy, but chorionic villus sampling is usually used to determine the sex of the fetus when the baby may have serious gender-related problems.

Amniocentesis

Amniocentesis is a procedure that involves taking a sample of the amniotic fluid, usually between 18 and 20 weeks of pregnancy, and analyzing it for the baby's cells. Generally speaking, this method is only used when the possibility of the baby being deformed increases, and it is usually only used to determine the sex of the fetus when the baby is at risk of serious genetic problems.

Ultrasound scan

Ultrasound is a type of sound wave that has no adverse effects on the fetus, but this method is only accurate when the baby is between 3 and 4 months old. However, when using ultrasound to diagnose the sex of the fetus, the accuracy for male babies can reach over 95%, while the reliability for female babies is only about 85%.
