Will exercising to lose weight during breastfeeding affect breast milk?

Will exercising to lose weight during breastfeeding affect breast milk?

As we all know, women's love of beauty is very obvious. Almost every woman feels that her body shape is not good enough and she needs to lose weight. However, she must lose weight during special periods. Will losing weight during lactation affect breast milk? Eating less means lower nutrient intake, exercising more means consuming more nutrients. Breast milk is actually a conversion of nutrients, so losing weight during lactation will affect the amount of breast milk. It is recommended that you wait until the breastfeeding period is over before starting to lose weight. Don't rush these few months, the child is the most important.

You cannot fast to lose weight during breastfeeding, as fasting to lose weight may affect milk secretion. It is best to wait until after weaning to lose weight. Breastfeeding mothers can try running to lose weight.

However, you should be careful when running to lose weight during breastfeeding. Doing a lot of running to lose weight too soon after giving birth is not good for uterine recovery. When the body has not fully recovered, excessive exercise can cause uterine prolapse, muscle and ligament relaxation, etc., which can cause women to age prematurely.

Mothers who give birth naturally can do some exercises such as turning over, bending their knees, and contracting their anus in bed on the first day after giving birth. Mothers who have undergone cesarean section should get out of bed and take a walk before the stitches are removed, and do some moderate exercises after the stitches are removed.

What to do about nipple indentations

If the mother's nipples are indented, she will not be able to breastfeed, and the newborn baby will not be able to suck milk, which will affect its growth and development. For the mother, poor milk secretion will cause blockage of the mammary ducts and milk accumulation, which is prone to acute mastitis and breast cysts.

Ways to correct nipple indentations include:

Ask your husband to help clean the dented nipples and squeeze out the breast milk, which can be fed to the baby. Then let your husband suck the indented nipples. Do it 4 times a day, each time for about 3 to 5 minutes.

Use a manual breast pump to remove fat, 1 minute each time, 4 times a day.

The mother holds the bottom of the breast with one hand, and pinches the concave nipple with the ring finger, middle finger and thumb of the other hand, stretches it outward, and drags it to the long position, and persists for about 30 seconds. Repeat the stretch several times and do it for a full 10 minutes. Carry out 4 times a day, working for a full 40 minutes.

Note: While correcting the nipple indentation, you should always continue to breastfeed your baby to prevent milk withdrawal.

Things to note during breastfeeding

What to do if you catch a cold while breastfeeding

Fever and colds are common diseases. Women in the confinement period are always sweating, and their resistance is low and they are busy after giving birth, so it is very common for them to suffer from fever and colds. Many pregnant women are afraid of taking medicine, fearing that it will affect the composition of breast milk and be bad for the baby, and they are also afraid of passing fever and cold to the baby. So what should you do if you catch a cold while breastfeeding?

If you have a cold and fever, but not accompanied by fever, pregnant women need to drink more water, eat light and easy-to-digest food, take cold granules, Banlangen granules and other medicines. At the same time, it is best to have someone to help take care of the children so that they can have more time to sleep and rest. They can still breastfeed the children, but it is best to wear a mask.

If a cold is accompanied by a high fever, pregnant women cannot eat well and feel very uncomfortable. They should see a doctor. The doctor will give them an IV and, if necessary, antibiotics that have little effect on breast milk. At the same time, they can still take medicines such as Banlangen and cold granules. Pregnant women themselves should drink more water, fresh fruit juice, eat light and easily digestible food, and have a good rest, and they will get better quickly.

How to treat constipation during breastfeeding? It is better for women who are breastfeeding to use less medicine, and it is most important to adjust from the dietary aspect.

1. Diet therapy: balanced diet. Eat more fruits and vegetables, with fresh fruits mainly bananas, apples and pears, and crude fiber vegetables such as lettuce and garlic. Drink more honey to promote digestion. Drink more water to speed up gastrointestinal motility, promote digestion, and relieve symptoms of constipation.

2. Strengthen exercise: Improve fitness exercises. New mothers often like to lie in bed, which is not conducive to defecation. 6-8 hours after delivery, you need to sit up and do some turning exercises, adopt a variety of sleeping or sitting positions, and gently massage your lower abdomen; on the second day, walk back and forth in the room. Regular life and abdominal massage for breastfeeding mothers can help the gastrointestinal tract repair intestinal motility and avoid constipation.

3. Treatment with Chinese herbal medicine: Eat some Chinese herbal medicine in moderation. It is better to use mild and laxative Chinese herbal medicines and prescriptions. Do not use antibiotics and other medicines to avoid affecting breastfeeding. Chinese herbal prescriptions include: Weijiawei Xiaoyao Pills, Maziren Pills, Niuhuang Jiedu Capsules, etc., which can effectively treat constipation.
