Menstruation 45 days after medical abortion

Menstruation 45 days after medical abortion

Medical abortion is harmful to the human body. The drugs used in medical abortion may cause endocrine disorders. It may also be that the abortion is not clean and a curettage may be required. The thinning of the uterine wall may cause infertility. Therefore, you should consider abortion with caution. It is best to avoid frequent abortions. Some women do not know when they will have their period after a medical abortion. Is it normal to have your period 45 days after a medical abortion? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. Is it normal to have menstruation 45 days after medical abortion?

Normally, menstruation comes about 28 days after abortion. However, many women experience amenorrhea due to postoperative care, psychological pressure, uterine recovery and many other reasons. Some may be delayed for a few days, and some may be delayed for several months. If you feel uncomfortable, you can take some medicine to regulate your body. Generally, you will have menstruation one month after the day of abortion. Menstruation resumes after abortion.

2. How long is the interval between repeated medical abortions?

Since the advent of mifepristone, the earliest and most widely used method is to terminate early pregnancy and save some women from surgical curettage. However, the failure of medical abortion has always been a major problem that puzzles clinicians, and whether medical abortion can be chosen again in the short term has not been clear. The research team, mainly composed of experts, conducted a comparative study on more than 2,000 abortion subjects and found that for those whose interval between two medical abortions was less than 3 months, the successful abortion rate was only 34.3%, while for those whose interval was more than 3 months, the successful abortion rate reached 79.1%.

3. The process of medical abortion

(1) Strict screening before medication, including medical history, full physical and gynecological examinations, laboratory tests such as urine pregnancy test, vaginal cleanliness, Trichomonas and fungi, blood routine and blood type, and B-ultrasound examination if necessary.

(2) The doctor will explain in detail the method of taking the medication, the efficacy of the medication, and possible side effects, and the medication can only be used after obtaining the patient's consent.

(3) Currently commonly used dosage: Mifepristone dosage is 150-200 mg, which can be taken all at once or divided into several doses within 3 days. On the third day, go to the hospital to add prostaglandin preparations: 1 mg of Carprostol suppository placed in the vagina or 600 micrograms of misoprostol taken orally. Observe in hospital for 6 hours.

(4) Monitoring during abortion: During the hospitalization period, in addition to paying attention to blood pressure, pulse, and drug side effects, all urine and feces must be kept in a clean bedpan. A dedicated person will check and record the presence of a gestational sac and the time of its excretion, the size of the gestational sac, and the amount of bleeding. If there is active bleeding before or after the expulsion of the fetal sac, uterotonics can be given or curettage can be performed immediately to stop the bleeding.

(5) If the fetal sac has not been expelled and bleeding is not excessive after 6 hours of observation, the baby can go home and follow up on the date specified by the doctor. If tissue is passed at home, it should be brought to the doctor for examination. It usually takes three to four days to terminate an unwanted pregnancy with medical abortion. Under normal circumstances, it takes four days to take the medicine for medical abortion, on an empty stomach, one tablet each morning and evening for the first three days, and three tablets at a time on the fourth day. Generally, there is no feeling in the first three days, but the pain becomes more severe after taking the medicine on the fourth day. Some individuals do not react obviously. Not only does medical abortion take a long time, but it also generally requires about 2 weeks of rest. After medical abortion, you should pay attention to vaginal bleeding. Once the amount of vaginal bleeding is greater than the usual menstrual volume or is accompanied by other discomfort symptoms, you must go to the hospital in time to avoid unnecessary trouble to your health.
