HCG doubled after blastocyst transfer

HCG doubled after blastocyst transfer

For women who are undergoing in vitro fertilization, various hormones are often used before embryo transfer to ensure that the environment of the uterine cavity is suitable for the growth and development of the embryo. After embryo transfer in vitro fertilization, hcg will not increase significantly until about a week after transfer, and its doubling is basically the same as that of general artificial insemination, with doubling occurring on the second day. For example, if hcg is detected at 50U/L on the 7th day of embryo transfer, then on the 9th day of embryo transfer, hcg may be around 100U/L.

After IVF transfer, the doctor will usually ask the woman to check HCG after 10-14 days to determine whether she is pregnant.

Anxious pregnant mothers can't wait to go to the hospital to have their blood drawn to check their HCG levels, and compare their levels with those of other pregnant mothers to see if their own levels are normal.

What exactly is the HCG value? What does it have to do with being pregnant? Today I will talk to you about HCG values.

What is HCG value?

HCG is called human chorionic gonadotropin. After the mother is pregnant, the trophoblast cells will first release a glycoprotein hormone, which will stimulate the secretion of progesterone by the corpus luteum. Maintaining the blood HCG level at a certain level can ensure that the corpus luteum does not decline and maintain the growth of the test tube embryo. If the amount of blood HCG is insufficient, it may affect the implantation or continued growth of the test tube embryo.

Therefore, HCG is a specific marker for female pregnancy.

HCG is secreted in large quantities by trophoblasts after the 6th day after fertilization, and can be detected in the mother's blood cells after the 10th day after fertilization. It is currently the most sensitive method for diagnosing early pregnancy.

Therefore, understanding the state of embryonic development through HCG is one of the important indicators to determine whether pregnancy is successful.

HCG's efficacy in mothers

HCG not only affects the growth and development of the fetus, but also plays a very important role for pregnant mothers.

1. The effect on pregnant mothers is to stimulate the corpus luteum cells of the ovaries, maintain the life of progesterone, and make it continue to develop into progesterone;

2. Maintain the effect of pregnancy, promote the corpus luteum of the pregnant mother's ovary to metabolize female hormones and estrogen again, and promote the endometrium to accept the implantation of fertilized eggs;

3. Immunosuppressive effect, protecting test tube embryos from the attack of the pregnant mother's immune system;

4. If you are pregnant with a boy, HCG promotes the development of the male fetus's testicles, stimulates the fetus's testicles to secrete testosterone, and promotes the formation of reproductive organs.

What is the HCG value to distinguish pregnancy

When a woman is not pregnant, her body cannot detect HCG. Even if it is detected, it is <5IU/L. After the embryo is implanted, the HCG standard value can begin to be detected in the pregnant mother's blood.

As the fertilized egg implants, the HCG level in the pregnant mother's blood will double, reaching a peak at 8-10 weeks of pregnancy, and then slowly maintain until the 12th week. In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, the HCG level in the blood drops to 10% of the highest value.

Before 4 weeks of pregnancy, pregnant mothers cannot determine whether they are pregnant based on B-ultrasound, but the HCG value can accurately determine whether the test tube embryo has implanted. This also makes pregnant mothers who have undergone in vitro fertilization pay close attention to the doubling of HCG values.

After receiving the HCG test result sheet, many pregnant mothers always like to compare their values with others. When they see that their own values have not doubled, they become anxious and worry that the test tube embryos will not implant.

In fact, I want to tell you that HCG values in the early stages of pregnancy are greatly affected by individual differences, and there is a certain degree of fluctuation in the values. After pregnant mothers get the HCG value report, they must not blindly compare with each other and think that their fertilized eggs are not implanted ideally.
