Can a woman with a fracture have sex?

Fractures are almost the most common phenomenon in menopausal women. Once women enter menopause, various aspects of their body functions will undergo varying degrees of changes, and their bones will become porous. Therefore, fractures are most likely to occur during this period. So, can women have sex with fractures? This should be avoided during the one month period after a fracture, because during this period you should rest more and avoid activities, otherwise it will easily involve the fracture site, causing pain and swelling, and also easily cause dislocation. If an X-ray examination one month later shows callus growth and fracture, and it has healed well, then there is no problem. As long as you pay attention to avoid touching the fracture site as much as possible during sexual intercourse and avoid putting weight on the fracture site, sexual intercourse alone will not affect fracture healing.

Common fracture points and prevention measures for women during menopause

Due to osteoporosis, bones are prone to fractures under external impact and load.

Common fractures include:

(1) Vertebral compression fractures. This is because the vertebral bodies of the spine are affected by the gravity of the upper body, the thickness gradually decreases, and the intervertebral spaces become narrower. When the body leans forward, the pressure on the front edge of the vertebral bodies increases, making compression fractures more likely to occur. Acute vertebral compression fractures occur when a large external force is applied at one time.

(2) Hip fracture. It includes femoral neck fractures and femoral trochanteric fractures. It is generally less likely to occur in women before the age of 50, but after the age of 50, the incidence rate doubles every 5 years. Once this type of fracture occurs, bed rest is necessary, and other complications are more likely to occur.

(3)Forearm fracture. The incidence of forearm fractures increases significantly after women turn 50, and is most obvious when they are 60-70 years old. The pathological basis of fractures is osteoporosis, but the direct cause is usually improper force and falls. Therefore, prevention should be carried out from the above two aspects: Similarly, male friends should also pay attention to this problem.

Precautions:

(1) Strengthen exercise. Participate in more outdoor activities, get more sun, insist on walking or jogging, practicing Tai Chi, etc. Activities can increase calcium absorption, improve osteoporosis, and enhance muscle support for bones, maintaining body flexibility and balance.

(2) Pay attention to your body posture to avoid falling. Do not lift objects that are too heavy. When picking up slightly heavier objects on the ground, squat down first and then pick up the object. Do not bend your head below the waist to pick up the object. If you need to get something from a place that is higher than your height and beyond your reach, do not stand on tiptoe to get it. Ask for help and avoid overstretching.

Walk slowly and take steady steps when going up and down stairs. Do not wear shoes with slippery soles, especially to prevent falls on wet or icy roads. Do not pile up objects or place obstacles in the hallway to prevent tripping. Keep your body straight and upright when sitting or standing.

(3) Pay attention to nutrition. The main thing is to eat more foods high in calcium, such as milk, beans and so on.

(4) Receive hormone replacement therapy in a timely manner. Estrogen replacement therapy has a significant effect on supplementing bone calcium, especially for female patients.

(5) Certain drugs (such as cortisone, prednisone, dexamethasone and other glucocorticoids) can increase bone loss, so those who use these drugs to treat diseases should pay attention to this. In addition, smoking and drinking will aggravate osteoporosis and should be quit. (Intern editor: Zhu Yanmei)
