Why does my vagina itch after my period?

Why does my vagina itch after my period?

Many people experience vulvar itching in addition to a strong body odor when their menstruation just ends. In fact, this situation needs attention. It is a systemic problem and has a certain relationship with personal health. For example, inflammatory infection, writing on sanitary napkins for a long time and other factors are all causes of itching.

2. Systemic causes

(1) Diabetes: Due to the irritation of diabetes to the vulvar skin, especially when accompanied by fungal vulvitis, vulvar itching is particularly severe. Many patients first seek medical attention due to itching and redness of the vulva, and are diagnosed with diabetes only after further examination.

(ii) When patients with jaundice, vitamin A and B deficiency, anemia, leukemia and other chronic diseases experience vulvar itching, it is often part of general itching.

(3) Vulvar congestion during pregnancy and premenstrual period may occasionally cause vulvar itching and discomfort.

(IV) Unexplained vulvar itching: Some patients have very severe vulvar itching, but no obvious systemic or local cause can be found. Some people currently believe that it may be related to mental or psychological factors. [1]

The cause of vulvar leukoplakia is very complex and is related to factors such as genetics, allergic chronic inflammatory stimulation, endocrine disorders, immune metabolic disorders and microcirculation disorders.

Infection and inflammatory stimulation are the main causes, accounting for about 50% of patients. There are many factors that cause vulvar infection and inflammation, such as poor hygiene habits, acute or chronic vaginitis, swimming in a bathhouse, cross-infection from staying away from home, etc.

If not treated in time, inflammatory secretions will infiltrate the perineum, and long-term infection and stimulation will gradually develop into vulvar leukoplakia.

In addition, women use unclean sanitary napkins and toilet paper during menstruation, which causes bacteria to grow and spread in the perineum.

Some are allergic to chemical fiber substances, which cause infection and irritation of the perineum, damage to the skin and mucous membranes, redness, swelling, ulcers and degeneration, and may also form vulvar leukoplakia. Suffering from diabetes, vulvar eczema, vulvar itching, etc., if the abuse of drugs and improper treatment, may also cause or aggravate the formation and development of vitiligo.
