Frequent urination during early pregnancy

Frequent urination during early pregnancy

After pregnancy, a woman's body will undergo very subtle changes. First, menstruation will stop, taste will change, breasts will feel swollen and painful, the skin on her face will also change, and the frequency of urination will increase. In fact, these symptoms are all physiological reactions of early pregnancy and generally do not require special treatment. As the pregnancy period increases, some symptoms will be alleviated. Let’s take a look at the reasons for frequent urination in early pregnancy.

Reasons for frequent urination during early pregnancy

1. The bladder is a thin-walled organ that stores and excretes urine. The female bladder is located in front of the pubic bone and pubic symphysis, and behind it is the uterus and vagina. The female reproductive organs are adjacent to the bladder, and their blood vessels, lymph nodes, and nerves are closely connected. In early pregnancy, the pelvic cavity becomes congested and the enlarged uterus pulls the bladder upward, which can stimulate the bladder and cause frequent urination. In addition, the enlarged uterus presses on the bladder, causing the bladder to store less urine than usual.

Therefore, urination occurs more frequently but the amount of urine excreted each time is less than usual. Especially in the late pregnancy, close to 1-2 weeks before delivery, the fetal presenting part (fetal head or buttocks) descends into the pelvic cavity, further compressing the bladder, reducing the bladder capacity, causing the phenomenon of frequent urination to worsen. Generally speaking, frequent urination in pregnant women is a normal physiological phenomenon during pregnancy and there is no need to worry.

2. In addition, after pregnancy, under the influence of neurohumoral function, the ureteral cavity expands and the peristaltic force decreases. In addition, the enlarged uterus compresses the ureter, causing the ureter, renal pelvis, etc. to expand, urine drainage is poor, and urine is retained in the bladder, so ascending urinary tract infection is prone to occur. At this time, symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency and pain will appear. Therefore, pregnant women should pay attention to preventing urinary tract infections. They should drink more boiled water to increase urine volume, change their underwear every day, wash their vulva with warm water at least 1-2 times, and moderate their sexual life. If the urinary frequency and urgency become worse, and there is stinging pain in the urethra or lower abdomen, you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time.

What are the symptoms of early pregnancy

1. One of the first signs of pregnancy is breast swelling. During the first three months of pregnancy, the breasts swell and enlarge due to increased levels of estrogen and progesterone. But it doesn't end after this period; your breasts will continue to grow throughout the process.

2. In addition to changes in breast size, your rib cage will also affect bra size. When you're pregnant, your lung capacity increases so you and your baby can take in more oxygen, so your chest cavity becomes larger. Therefore you may need to change bras several times during your pregnancy.

3. The skin has a pregnancy-like glow, which is one of the changes in the skin during pregnancy. This phenomenon is caused by hormonal changes and the skin's stretching to accommodate the changes in the body. Due to the effect of uterine metabolism, the increase in blood flow in pregnant women will also increase glandular secretions.

4. Some pregnant women will develop brown and yellow pregnancy spots on their faces, and some will also find dark stretch marks on their bellies. This is due to progesterone causing the body to produce more pigment. But the body doesn't produce pigment evenly, so darker skin can appear blotchy. Unfortunately, these stretch marks cannot be avoided, but wearing sunscreen can reduce their effects.

5. Due to the increase in oil secretion, acne is also a common skin problem during pregnancy. Not only do new acne breakouts cause spots on the face or body, but existing moles and freckles may become larger and darker. Except for the darkening of the areola, which is permanent, other skin changes will disappear after delivery.

6. Many pregnant women will feel changes in their hair quality and hair growth. Due to the increase in hormones in your body, your hair will grow faster and fall less. But this condition is not permanent, and many women lose a lot of hair after giving birth or stopping breastfeeding.

7. There will also be obvious changes in your nails. They will grow faster and harder. But some pregnant women find that their nails break easily. But if your nails become easily broken, be sure to trim them frequently and avoid applying nail polish and nail polish remover.
