Pictures of IUD insertion and removal

The contraceptive ring, which once played an important role in the family planning policy, is a common contraceptive method for women. Compared with the contraceptive method of using emergency contraception, the contraceptive ring can not only effectively prevent pregnancy, but also prevent the side effects caused by long-term use of emergency contraception. However, the placement of the contraceptive ring will also have certain effects on women's body. So which one is more painful, inserting an IUD or removing it?

Which one is more painful, inserting or removing the ring?

Removing the IUD is more painful. Normally, if the cervix is relatively loose when the IUD is inserted, there will not be any abnormal feeling. However, when removing the IUD, it may be difficult to remove the IUD because the IUD has been in place for a long time or has become stuck. Some women have a tight cervix, and the cervix needs to be dilated when removing the IUD, so there will be pain during the removal process. And the pain of removing the IUD is directly related to the technical ability of the surgical operator. If the doctor is skilled in removing the IUD, the ring will be removed in a short time and the pain will not be great.

In addition, women may experience some physical discomfort after removing the IUD, such as fever, abdominal pain, or abnormal bleeding exceeding the menstrual volume. They should go to the hospital for medical treatment immediately. At the same time, you should pay attention to rest, refrain from sexual intercourse within two weeks, and pay more attention to the hygiene and cleaning of private parts to ensure that the body recovers to normal levels at a faster rate.

Inserting an IUD is a minimally invasive procedure, but it does not cause much harm to women.

Irregular menstruation

The contraceptive ring is a foreign object to the uterus. When it is first placed, the woman's body is definitely not suitable. The adjustment period between the uterus and the contraceptive ring also takes time. During this period, the uterine wall may be irritated by the compression caused by the contraceptive ring, resulting in menstrual irregularities such as prolonged menstruation and increased menstruation.

Back pain

The contraceptive ring is originally an "invasive substance". At first, it will make the uterus more sensitive and cause uterine contractions, so women will experience back pain, lower abdominal pain and other symptoms.

Very susceptible to infection

In the 1960s and 1980s, the use of contraceptive rings can be said to have reached its peak, but the medical level at that time was still relatively backward, and some women could only simply undergo an IUD operation in a small clinic. If a woman's vulva and vagina are not strictly disinfected, they are very susceptible to infection.

Although medical standards have improved nowadays, infections still occur frequently, because some women do not pay attention to hygiene after inserting the IUD, or do it too early, or the operation process is not strictly disinfected, all of which increase the probability of infection.

Ectopic pregnancy

Don't think that placing an IUD in the uterus can be 100% contraceptive. In fact, the IUD only prevents the fusion of egg and sperm in the uterus, but they still have the opportunity to fuse outside the uterus to produce test tube embryos, which can easily lead to ectopic pregnancy.
