What is the cause of insufficient milk leakage?

What is the cause of insufficient milk leakage?

After giving birth, many mothers hope that their babies can drink breast milk as soon as possible. However, there will not be a lot of breast milk immediately. The breast milk increases little by little during the baby's sucking. Therefore, new mothers should feed their babies more often so that there will be more and more breast milk. Some mothers may find that they do not have much milk, but it flows out involuntarily when feeding their babies.

Causes of leaking milk

From the perspective of breast structure, a low nipple position can cause milk leakage; some mothers secrete more milk than their babies need, and if they do not pump milk in time, their breasts are full and prone to overflowing; in addition, some mothers see their babies or other mothers breastfeeding, which creates a conditioned reflex and causes their own milk to leak out.

It does not rule out the possibility of what Chinese medicine calls "inability to control milk and leaking it out." Traditional Chinese medicine believes that childbirth consumes a lot of mother's physical energy and causes a lot of blood loss during the delivery process. In addition, improper diet and lack of rest after delivery can easily lead to qi and blood deficiency, resulting in milk leakage.

Emergency measures :

1. Mothers who have milk leakage problems must not be too anxious, but should stay calm and relaxed. You can wear a suitable bra to lift your breasts, making sure your nipples are not lower than horizontal. When you feel your breasts are swollen, you should feed or express the milk in time.

2. Prepare some clean towels or breast pads in advance to carry with you for wiping or to prevent clothes from getting wet.

3. You can also buy a "breast protector" to wear. If milk leakage occurs, the leaked milk can flow into the breast protector and will not flow elsewhere.

4. Reduce stimulation and try to avoid seeing scenes that can cause conditioned reflexes.

5. When attending public occasions, express your breast milk in advance and wear a padded bra. In an emergency, you can cross your hands and press your breasts hard to prevent the milk from flowing out quickly. Know where the bathroom is and prepare spare clothes in advance for easy disposal and changing.

6. If the problem is serious, you can consult an expert for appropriate treatment and adjustments.

How to care for your breasts after childbirth

1. Avoid wearing inappropriate bras or not wearing bras at all after giving birth. Choosing the right bra is a necessary measure to protect your breasts and should not be taken lightly. You should not feel oppressive when wearing a bra, that is, the bra should not be too small, and you should choose a model that can cover all the outer edges of the breasts. The breast straps should not be too loose or too tight. The material should be elastic and can be slightly tightened. There should be a certain amount of adjustment time every day. The bra should be taken off before going to bed at night to relax the breasts, chest and back muscles, which is beneficial to local blood circulation.

2. Cleaning the breasts after childbirth is very important. Long-term uncleanliness will cause trouble. Therefore, the breasts must be cleaned frequently. Lactation is the period when breast function is at its peak. The most common breast diseases during this period are infection and inflammation, so pay attention to breast cleanliness. Before each feeding, clean the nipples and areola.

3. Do some breast enhancement exercises and gently massage to make your breasts fuller. Doing breast enhancement exercises is one of the measures to implement breast exercise, which is very important for women whose breast tissue is basically healthy. In fact, exercise itself cannot make the breasts bigger because there are no muscles in the breasts. The purpose of the exercise is to grow the pectoral muscles under the breasts. The increase in the pectoral muscles will make the breasts protrude and appear larger.

4 After childbirth, the breasts produce a large amount of milk due to breastfeeding. If they are squeezed by external force at this time, it will cause tissue contusion and may also change the external shape. Squeezing when the milk is full can also cause mastitis. To avoid breast compression, you must first maintain a correct sleeping position. It is best for new mothers to lie on their backs after delivery and try not to lie on their side in one direction for a long time to prevent breast compression and cause unbalanced development of both breasts.
