Causes of morning sickness during early pregnancy

Snacks to relieve morning sickness

Easily digestible food: During pregnancy, the pyloric sphincter relaxes and the stomach contents flow back into the lower esophagus, which can easily cause nausea and vomiting. The longer the food stays in the stomach, the more likely it is to cause morning sickness, so you need to choose easily digestible food. Among the three major energy-producing nutrients (fat, protein, and carbohydrates), carbohydrates provide energy the fastest, so it is recommended to choose staple foods or snacks rich in carbohydrates, such as porridge, rusks, steamed buns, soda crackers, sweet potatoes, etc.

Fruit: Compared with dried fruits, fruits are rich in vitamins, especially water-soluble vitamins, but lower in energy; compared with fruit juice, fruits are rich in vitamins and dietary fiber. Vitamin C is often used in clinical practice to treat morning sickness, so you can often eat fruits rich in vitamin C, such as fresh dates, kiwis, etc. Now that logistics is well developed, all kinds of fruits are available regardless of spring, summer, autumn or winter. It can be eaten directly or made into fruit salad; it is recommended that pregnant women eat more than half a pound of fruit every day.

Nuts: In clinical practice, vitamin B6 is used to assist in the treatment of early pregnancy reactions. Nuts such as melon seeds and walnuts are rich in vitamin B6. Constipation can aggravate morning sickness, dietary fiber can prevent constipation, and nuts are rich in dietary fiber. In addition, nuts are rich in unsaturated fatty acids and minerals, which are beneficial to the intellectual development of the fetus. Therefore, pregnant mothers are advised to eat some nuts. You should choose closed-mouth and original-flavor ones. Closed-mouth ones can reduce fat oxidation, microbial contamination and dust pollution; original flavor can reduce the intake of salt, sugar and oil; you can eat it directly or grind it into nut crumbs and sprinkle it in the cooked porridge. It is enough to eat a handful of shelled ones every day. Eating too much will add extra energy and increase the risk of energy excess; eating too much can also easily cause getting a sore throat.

High-protein food: A high-protein diet helps prevent morning sickness. Dairy products such as cheese, milk, and yogurt are good sources of high-quality protein. If drinking milk causes bloating, diarrhea, or abdominal pain, you can drink yogurt or eat cheese. The lactic acid in yogurt is also beneficial to the absorption of calcium, which can meet the increasing calcium needs of pregnant mothers. Literature shows that adding diced or ground ginger to milk can better prevent morning sickness. You should drink the milk and eat the diced ginger.
