Can pregnancy-preserving drugs and folic acid be taken together?

Can pregnancy-preserving drugs and folic acid be taken together?

Pregnancy-preserving drugs can be taken together with folic acid, because folic acid itself is also a drug that can assist in preserving the pregnancy. Although they can be taken together, it is better to separate them by half an hour. When you are pregnant, try to avoid places with strong radiation, refrain from smoking and drinking, and do not come into contact with toxic substances for the safety of the baby.

Medicines that should not be taken during pregnancy include;

1. Salicylic acid preparations: Animal experiments have shown that large doses of salicylic acid preparations can cause teratogenicity in animal embryos. (Salicylates include aspirin, diflunisal, etc.)

2. Long-term use of large doses of tetracycline can have toxic effects on the liver of pregnant women; if used within 3 months of pregnancy, it can cause yellowing of the fetal deciduous teeth, enamel hypoplasia, or intrauterine growth stagnation.

3. Long-term and high-dose use of streptomycin, gentamicin, kanamycin, etc. can damage the eighth auditory nerve of the fetus and cause congenital deafness.

Suggestions:

Folic acid can generally be taken with a variety of foods without any major taboos. Although doctors generally recommend not taking spicy or greasy foods at the same time when taking folic acid, this is based on its absorption rate. However, because folic acid is more easily absorbed in alkaline and neutral environments, if you take drugs with high absorption rates in acidic environments at the same time, the two will compete with each other, and the absorption rates will naturally offset each other, affecting the effects (such as VC, B2, B6). If you encounter such a situation, it is recommended that you take them at least half an hour apart.
