What should women do if they have urethral polyps?

Urethral polyps are a common symptom in menopausal women, and their occurrence is related to a severe decrease in estrogen. So what should women do when they develop urethral polyps? Most female friends don’t quite understand this. In fact, when women develop urethral polyps, they must go to the hospital for treatment in time. This is because each woman's physique is different, so the treatment methods are also different.

1Urethra polyps are more common in menopausal women, and it is believed that their occurrence is related to a severe decrease in estrogen. Histologically, different degrees of inflammatory cell infiltration, fibrosis and varicose veins can be seen, but cancer is rare. It can be divided into three types: papilloma type, hemangioma type and granuloma type.

2 Asymptomatic people do not need treatment. Most of them have good results with topical estrogen ointment. For those who do not heal for a long time, electrocautery, freezing, laser or surgical resection can be used.

3Urethra caruncle is a common urethral disease in women. It is a tumor-like tissue that appears at the female urethral opening, also known as urethral granuloma or vascular polyp. It is more common in menopausal women and is believed to be related to the severe decrease of estrogen. Histologically, different degrees of inflammatory cell infiltration, fibrosis and varicose veins can be seen. It rarely becomes cancerous and can be divided into three types, namely papilloma type, hemangioma type and granuloma type.

4. The main manifestations are small swelling at the urethral opening, local pain, bleeding and burning sensation during urination. Physical examination shows that the caruncle is mostly located at 6 o'clock, generally 0.5-1.0 cm in size, with a pedicle or broad base, light red or dark red, soft and painful to touch, and easy to bleed. A few larger ones may be ring-shaped around the urethral opening. The diagnosis can be made based on clinical manifestations.
