Starting from the fifth month of pregnancy, breast massage should be done to increase breast tissue and promote blood circulation in the chest, increase postpartum lactation function, and prevent postpartum breast diseases. In the first few days after delivery, the internal structure of the breast changes greatly, and the milk secretion and the baby's sucking ability have not yet been coordinated and adapted, which can easily cause milk to accumulate into lumps and cause breast swelling and pain. Therefore, it is advisable to actively perform breast massage within 2 to 3 days after delivery. Persistent daily massage can prevent breast relaxation and sagging and maintain the beautiful shape of the breasts.

Nipple massage, purpose: to remove blockage. Make milk ducts unobstructed. Method: Support the breast with one hand. Use the other hand to gently squeeze the areola to make it soft. Use your thumb, index finger and middle finger to pinch the nipple vertically on the chest and gently pull it outwards. Use three fingers to pinch the nipple vertically, press and tighten your fingers as much as possible while changing the position. You can rotate 360°. Massage at the base of the breast. Purpose: Massaging the base of the breast can make it easier for the baby to suck milk. Method: Push the breasts toward the center and try to bring the two nipples closer together. In this way, the base of the breast is moved more than usual. Place your thumbs under your armpits and use the remaining fingers to support your breasts horizontally from under them. Pull your elbows inward to lift your chest.

Some women may have less milk secretion after giving birth. At this time, breast massage may not be very effective. You can use a hot towel to apply heat to the breasts, which can promote milk secretion. However, it should be noted that if the breast pain is severe after giving birth, do not massage the breasts or apply heat at will, otherwise it will easily lead to worsening breast inflammation.
