What are the causes of gonococcal cervicovaginitis?

Vaginitis is a physiological disease that troubles many women nowadays. It is caused by the environment or personal hygiene habits and has a great impact on women. This disease is also divided into many types, including gonococcal cervicovaginitis, but many women seek treatment without understanding the cause of the disease, which causes many problems. So, what are the causes of gonococcal cervicovaginitis?

1. Female non-gonococcal urethritis is often infected with gonorrhea at the same time.

The former first shows symptoms of gonorrhea. After anti-gonococcal treatment, the gonococci are killed by penicillin, while chlamydia and mycoplasma still exist. Disease develops 1-3 weeks after infection. Gonococcal urethritis can easily be mistaken for uncured or recurrent gonorrhea clinically. Improper handling or untimely treatment may cause complications (1%). Such as acute epididymitis, prostatitis, colitis, and pharyngitis. Female cervicitis, cervical erosion, Bartholinitis, vaginitis, salpingitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancy, etc. Cervicitis is the most common complication. Nearly half of patients with cervicitis are asymptomatic.

2. There is a lot of leucorrhea in the cervical canal, which is mucopurulent. Congestion and edema also often occur.

If cervicitis is left untreated, 30% to 40% will develop into endometritis, and 8% to 10% will develop into salpingitis, which can lead to chronic abdominal pain, pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, etc.

3. Cross-infection between husband and wife.

NGU accounts for 50% of urethritis. In addition to unclean sexual contact, mutual infection between husband and wife is also an important route of NGU transmission. During gynecological examinations, it was found that 20% of women had normal parasitism of non-gonococcal bacteria in the vagina and cervix. Although they themselves do not get sick, they can infect their spouses when their body resistance is poor. This is why many couples suffer from mycoplasma and chlamydia infections even though they do not have unclean sexual behavior. Therefore, if one of the spouses suspects that he or she has non-gonococcal gonorrhea, it is best for both of them to go to the hospital for examination together to avoid cross infection and a vicious cycle.

4. Complications.

For example, prostatitis, gonococcal urethritis and prostatitis need to be differentiated. The characteristics of non-gonococcal urethritis are that the symptoms are milder than those of gonorrhea, the incubation period is longer than that of gonorrhea, and the secretions are clearer and thinner than those of gonorrhea. Chronic prostatitis is often accompanied by urethral discomfort and discharge from the urethral orifice, but the main symptoms of chronic prostatitis are perineal discomfort, difficulty urinating, and the discharge from the urethral orifice is prostatic fluid. Shanghai andrology experts pointed out that in order to completely eradicate NGU, prostatitis must be treated at the same time. Some patients think that everything is fine once the urethral symptoms disappear, but they often ignore chlamydia and mycoplasma infections that have invaded the prostate and testicles because the symptoms are not obvious, so they often miss the opportunity for treatment.

5. Cause a series of male diseases.

If men infected with NGU are not treated thoroughly, leaving "hidden dangers", or if they are passive and neglectful and allow the disease to develop, it will cause great harm to men's physical and mental health: for example, men may suffer from orchitis, epididymitis, prostatitis, seminal vesiculitis, epididymal nodules, fallopian tube obstruction, reduced sperm quantity and quality, impotence, premature ejaculation, male infertility, etc.

In the above article, we have clearly introduced the causes of gonococcal cervicovaginitis. In this way, we hope that women can receive targeted treatment based on the causes. This will help you recover your health better. In addition, patients should not ignore this disease when they encounter it, because it will not only harm their own bodies, but will also affect their significant other.
