What should I do if there is blood in cervical erosion?

Among gynecological diseases, the incidence of cervical erosion is very high, which has attracted great attention from many female friends. Cervical erosion is a very common chronic cervical inflammation. Many people don’t understand what cervical erosion is. In fact, cervical erosion is a common gynecological disease. There are many causes of cervical erosion. So what should you do if you have cervical erosion? The following are the symptoms and treatments of cervical erosion.

Below we will introduce the symptoms and treatment methods of cervical erosion in the early stage of the disease.

1. Symptoms in the early stage of the disease.

1. Pain in the lower abdomen and waist.

If you experience pain in the lower abdomen or lumbosacral area accompanied by a feeling of falling, you may be suffering from cervical erosion. This is because the inflammation spreads along the uterosacral ligament and cardinal ligament, causing pelvic connective tissue inflammation, which causes pain. This is one of the symptoms of early cervical erosion.

2. Frequent urination or difficulty urinating.

When the inflammation spreads to the trigone or around the bladder, frequent urination or difficulty urinating may occur.

3. Increased vaginal discharge.

Increased vaginal discharge is the most important characteristic of the early symptoms of cervical erosion, and other gynecological diseases may also cause increased vaginal discharge. But unlike other gynecological diseases, the leucorrhea caused by cervical erosion is milky white or light yellow purulent secretion, and sometimes bloody or mixed with blood.

4. Itching and pain in the vulva.

Since increased vaginal discharge can irritate the vulva and vagina, it can cause women to suffer from vulvitis or vaginitis, causing the patient to experience severe itching and pain in the vulva and vagina.

5. Infertility.

When a woman has very thick leucorrhea, sperm cannot penetrate it, thus causing cervicitis and making pregnancy impossible.

For unmarried, childless patients with cervical erosion, when the degree of cervical erosion is found to reach moderate level, they should actively choose traditional Chinese medicine treatment to avoid worsening of cervical erosion and causing infertility and other diseases.

2. Treatment of cervical erosion.

(1) Drug treatment.

It is suitable for patients with smaller erosion area and shallower inflammatory infiltration. Gynecological suppositories can be used for local medication, such as Baofukang suppositories. Traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in the clinical treatment of cervical erosion, and the effect is also good. Some proven prescriptions and formulas are often selected, processed into powders or suppositories, placed on cotton balls, and applied to the eroded surface.

Generally, the medicine is applied twice a week. During the treatment, there will be more yellow vaginal discharge, but there should be no odor. Treatment usually starts after the menstruation is over, and the medicine is applied continuously for one month and discontinued during the menstrual period.

(2) Physical therapy.

It is a widely used treatment method at present, with the advantages of short treatment course and good efficacy. It is suitable for patients with larger erosion area and deeper inflammatory infiltration. Commonly used methods include electric ironing, laser therapy, and cryotherapy. Electric ironing should be performed within 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over. During treatment, place the iron head in contact with the eroded surface and apply slight pressure, moving it from the inside to the outside and back and forth until it slightly exceeds the eroded surface. After the operation, 1% gentian violet is applied to the wound. The patient will have heavy vaginal discharge within 2 to 3 days and a small amount of vaginal bleeding within 2 weeks. After 2 to 3 weeks, the wound will shed its scab and the squamous epithelium will begin to repair. Laser treatment uses laser to carbonize and scab the eroded tissue. The scab will fall off about 3 weeks after the operation, and new squamous epithelium will grow on the wound surface. There is also a lot of vaginal discharge after laser treatment. Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen as a cooling source and a rapid cooling device to freeze, necrotize, and fall off eroded tissue. There is little bleeding after the operation, but there is a lot of vaginal discharge, which usually lasts for 2 to 3 weeks. The necrotic tissue fell off in 6 weeks and the wound healed in 8 weeks.

Before physical therapy surgery, the vulva, vagina, and cervix should be routinely disinfected. Since there is a large amount of fluid discharge after surgery, care should be taken to keep the vulva clean and dry to prevent infection. In addition, using Baofukang suppositories five days after surgery can speed up wound healing. Sexual intercourse, bathing and vaginal douching are prohibited until the wound has completely healed, which usually takes 4 to 8 weeks. After treatment, the patients were reviewed once a month to check the wound healing status.

(3) Surgical treatment.

If the above treatment is ineffective, or there is cervical hypertrophy, or the erosion is deep and extensive, and involves the cervical canal, cervical conization or total hysterectomy may be considered. However, surgical treatment is rarely used nowadays.

In fact, the occurrence of cervical erosion is often related to many bad habits in life. The key is to develop good living habits. In addition, the symptoms of early cervical erosion are not obvious. Mild cervical erosion should be treated actively. Before it reaches the level of severe cervical erosion, effective treatment is the only way to avoid complications.
