What causes gonococcal vaginitis?

Many women suffer from gonococcal vaginitis without knowing it, but they don’t know what causes it. Today we will answer these questions for you and tell you how to prevent these problems. Women's lives should be meticulous and clean so that diseases will not occur. Otherwise, once diseases occur, you will regret it. Therefore, women must pay attention to the development of daily living habits.

The pathogen that causes gonococcal vaginitis is Neisseria gonorrhoeae, commonly known as gonococci. The bug has the ability to self-regulate, mutating to become resistant to drugs, or at least make them less effective, and it is developing this immunity to a growing number of antibiotics. First penicillin failed to work against it, then tetracycline, ciprofloxacin, and now cefuroxime. The pathogenicity of gonococci is closely related to the structure of the outside of the bacteria. The outer structure of gonococci is the outer membrane, the main components of which are membrane proteins, lipopolysaccharides and fimbriae. Membrane proteins allow gonococci to adhere to human mucosa, enter cells through phagocytosis, multiply in large numbers inside cells, causing cell disintegration, and spread gonococci to the submucosal layer, causing infection. The fimbriae easily adhere to the surface of epithelial cells in the uterine cavity and oral cavity, and are pathogenic and contagious.

In addition, gonococcal vaginitis can generally be transmitted through unclean or promiscuous sexual intercourse or sexual intimacy, and its incubation period is 4 to 7 days. If not treated in time, it will turn into a chronic disease and cause cervicitis, salpingitis and pelvic inflammatory disease. 10 to 20% of women may experience infertility or ectopic pregnancy. In addition, when a newborn is delivered, gonorrhea can directly infect the newborn's eyes when passing through the vagina of a mother with gonococcal vaginitis, causing conjunctivitis, keratitis, corneal ulcer perforation, and even blindness.

Therefore, we should take certain measures for gonococcal vaginitis. Wear cotton underwear and change it frequently. Keep the towel and basin for cleaning the vulva separate. Washed underwear should be placed in the sun to dry, not in the bathroom. Wear breathable clothing and avoid wearing tights or tight jeans continuously

After the introduction in the previous paragraphs, everyone should know what causes gonococcal vaginitis. Now that you know this, you should pay more attention to your habits and see where you are not doing well or carefully enough. Women must keep themselves clean, have self-discipline in all aspects of their lives, and for the sake of their own health, they must develop good habits and try not to get sick.
