What causes pain in the vulva?

A person is a complete whole. If you fall while walking, you will feel pain. This is because the pain nerves in the body will transmit this to the brain, and then react. This is also telling yourself that there is a problem in that part of the body. In this way, people can sometimes know where the problem is. However, female friends are a little difficult to express for a certain kind of pain, that is, pain in the vulva, which also indicates that there is a problem in this place. What is the cause of pain in the vulva? Let’s talk about it below.

1. Candida infection: A history of vulvovaginal candidiasis is the only most constant feature of patients with vestibulitis, but inappropriate and repeated use of topical antifungal drugs can also cause this symptom. Furthermore, the Candida colonization rate was not higher in patients with vestibulitis than in controls. The etiology of cyclic vulvitis is unknown, but Candida albicans may be a potential cause and anticandidal therapy is usually effective.

2. Iatrogenic factors: Patients with vulvar pain often have a history of multiple use of topical medications. Because the protective barrier function of the stratum corneum of the vulvar skin is not as good as that of the skin in other parts of the body, vulvar irritation caused by topical medications is more common. Irritation is unlikely to be the cause of the initial symptoms, but it may prolong symptoms of vulvar pain.

3. Psychological and sexual psychological factors: Patients with vulvar pain have obvious psychological and sexual psychological morbidities, but whether they can cause symptoms is still controversial. Lack of sexual arousal during intercourse can cause decreased lubrication and lead to vulvovaginal irritation, while cyclical vulvar irritation symptoms can produce vulvar pain.

4. Genetic quality: Vulvar pain is more common in white people and rare in blacks and Asians.

5. Dietary factors: Some scholars speculate that vulvar pain is related to hyperoxaluria, and sharp oxalate crystals contact with the epithelial surface cause severe burning pain.

6. Influence of estrogen: Symptoms of many patients worsen during menstruation; serum estrogen levels are low, often after delivery (when estrogen is relatively deficient), even after cesarean section; oral contraceptives are associated with an increased relative risk of vulvar pain.

7. Human papillomavirus infection.

8. Pelvic floor muscle tension: Most patients with vestibulitis have unstable levator ani muscles, poor recovery after muscle contraction, and increased resting basal tension.

9. Neurological factors.

From the above, we can understand what is causing the pain in the vulva, or what is causing it. Only by understanding this can we have a more systematic understanding of our own pain in the vulva, and thus get better treatment. Of course, the treatment mentioned here is not something you do yourself, but the doctor's orders, and the patient should cooperate with the treatment better.
