Fetal gender test strips

Fetal gender test strips

Nowadays, most women use pregnancy test strips or other test strips to check whether they are pregnant in order to immediately check whether they are pregnant. In 2012, a fetal gender identification test strip became popular on the Internet. A test strip and a cup of urine could detect the gender of the fetus. Many expectant mothers have purchased this test paper to check the gender of their fetus for various reasons.

1. Fetal gender identification test strips

1. The fetal gender identification test strip can only determine whether you are pregnant, but cannot test the gender of the fetus. The fetal gender identification test paper distinguishes the fetal gender based on the difference in the hormones metabolized by the fetus in the pregnant mother. Because the hormones metabolized by the pregnant mother are different for male and female fetuses, this test paper is based on this principle to test the fetal gender. But this is wrong, first of all, the difference in hormone secreted by male and female fetuses in the pregnant mother is very small, plus the influence of the pregnant mother's own hormone, this difference is not enough to determine the sex of the fetus.

2. In addition, the key basis for fetal gender identification is sex chromosomes, but urine does not contain sex chromosomes. Therefore, it is not accurate to check the gender of the fetus through the fetal gender identification test strip. Some people say that the result is accurate, because the gender of the fetus can only be male or female. Even if there is no basis for guessing, the probability of guessing correctly is 50%.

2. How to scientifically identify the sex of the fetus

1. B-ultrasound

When the pregnancy is more than 16 weeks, the sex of the fetus can be determined by looking at the fetal sexual organs through B-ultrasound. The accuracy of it being able to tell if it is a boy is over 95%, while the reliability of it being a girl is only around 85%.

2. Amniocentesis

Amniocentesis is a method of testing the sex of the fetus by examining the fetal sex chromosomes. It is usually performed between 16 and 20 weeks of pregnancy and has an accuracy of 99%, but there is a 1% chance of miscarriage.

3. Hair sampling

Vaginal sampling is also used to identify the sex of the fetus based on the sex chromosomes of the fetus. It is usually performed between 11 and 14 weeks of pregnancy and has an accuracy rate of 98%, but there is a miscarriage rate of 3% to 5%.

4. DNA blood test

The technology of genetic engineering can be used to determine the gender of the fetus using the blood of the pregnant mother. It can be done after 8 weeks of pregnancy, with an accuracy of 99.5%.
