Why do women have pain on both sides of their lower abdomen?

Lower abdominal pain may be a very common symptom for women, but the cause is different each time the pain occurs. If you often feel pain or other discomfort on both sides of your lower abdomen, it is very likely that it is abnormal and you should find out the cause in time. Then the editor will describe all the possible reasons below, and you can read it together to find out.

1. Pain caused by menstruation. Dysmenorrhea is divided into primary and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary pain is common in adolescent girls. It is related to the level of prostaglandins in the body, cold, emotional and psychological factors, but there is no organic disease. Many women go to the gynecology department for menstrual pain. You may wish to carry painkillers with you. It is best to take them when your period just comes. It usually heals itself as you age or after getting married and having children. Common causes of secondary pain are endometriosis and adenomyosis. The symptoms include gradually increasing pain, often in a cyclical pattern, or dull pain in the lower abdomen during non-menstrual periods that worsens before and after menstruation.

2. Pain caused by inflammation. It is more common in adnexitis and pelvic inflammatory disease, and often occurs in women of childbearing age. The pain is on one or both sides, accompanied by increased vaginal discharge. Chronic cases often present with dull pain, back pain or a feeling of heaviness; acute cases often present with abdominal pain that is resistant to pressure and is accompanied by fever.

3. Abdominal pain caused by ovulation. During the ovulation period, there is a feeling of distension and pain in the lower abdomen, which is caused by the rupture of the follicle. Generally speaking, this pain does not affect health and has no adverse consequences. However, in a very small number of people, due to large rupture of the ovarian follicle during ovulation, damage to small blood vessels causes ovarian rupture and intra-abdominal bleeding, resulting in gynecological emergencies and requiring hospital treatment.

Generally speaking, mild lower abdominal pain in women is usually due to physiological reasons, while severe or frequent pain is very likely a gynecological disease, which requires timely drug treatment. The editor would also like to remind all women to keep their genitals clean and hygienic and pay more attention to their diet.
