What if my period is a week late?

Menstrual problems are a problem that troubles many women. Menstruation is the most important physiological phenomenon for women. For women, normal and healthy menstruation represents their physical condition. If menstruation is abnormal, it means that there are some abnormal conditions in the female body and they need to be examined and treated. Some women have their menstruation delayed by a week. So, what is the reason for the menstruation being delayed by a week?

It is not a big deal if your period is delayed by less than ten days. However, if your period is delayed by more than ten days, it is best to go to the hospital for a detailed examination.

The menstrual cycle is generally 28 to 30 days. About ten days earlier or later is still within the normal range, and the length of the cycle varies from person to person. But if it exceeds this time, women with normal menstruation will definitely be worried. There are four situations:

1. Pregnant

Ten days after the menstruation is delayed, you can test your urine with an early pregnancy test strip. If it is positive, you are very likely pregnant. If it is negative, the opposite is true. But if you are pregnant, there will be other symptoms such as nausea, breast tenderness, etc. Of course, the last resort is to go to the hospital for B

Super inspection.

2. The amplitude of drug effect

If endocrine disorders occur after taking contraceptives, menstruation may be delayed. Doctors also found, based on patient feedback, that a new generation of gastrokinetic drug, metoclopramide, also known as domperidone, may also cause this condition. Since metoclopramide does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier, it is believed that it has no inhibitory effect on central dopamine receptors. Central dopamine receptors are inhibited, resulting in a decrease in the amount of hypothalamic release factors entering the anterior pituitary. As a result, the anterior pituitary secretes less gonadotropin and corticotropin, leading to amenorrhea and delayed ovulation.

3. Surgery caused

For example, intrauterine surgery may cause cervical adhesions, which may lead to menstrual blood stasis and thus delay menstruation.

From the above explanation, the occurrence of menstruation being one week late indicates that women are facing health threats, but this threat is not too serious. Generally speaking, a one-week delay in menstruation is a relatively normal phenomenon and does not cause any harm to the body. Instead, women should examine their living habits to see if there are any abnormalities.
