What tests can be avoided during pregnancy?

After a woman becomes pregnant, many tests are needed to understand the physical condition of the fetus and the pregnant woman. And pregnant women should attach great importance to pre-delivery examinations and must not miss them because they find it troublesome. However, some tests during pregnancy are unnecessary. So, what tests can be avoided during pregnancy?

One of the items in a woman's prenatal checkup is the TCT test, which is actually a cervical cytology test. During the test, the doctor will test the cells on the cervix to check whether there are early pathological cells. It is a way to screen for tumor cells. Women do not need to undergo TCT testing during pregnancy.

Among the new items in pregnancy checkups, there is also an HPV test, which usually appears on the pregnant woman's test sheet together with TCT. TCT is used to check whether a woman has cervical cancer, but this test is not necessary if the woman is pregnant.

If the pregnant woman is pregnant or is planning to become pregnant, and does not have irregular vaginal bleeding, abnormal leucorrhea and other symptoms, there is no need to carry out these two tests. However, once symptoms of cervical cancer appear, pregnant women should carry out these two tests so that the symptoms can be detected in time. If you do get sick, you can get treatment at an early stage. Even if no symptoms are found, pregnant women can rest assured after the examination.

When every woman is pregnant, for the safe and healthy growth and development of the baby, it is very necessary for pregnant mothers to have regular prenatal checkups. They must not be careless. Early examinations can help prevent genetic diseases, discover health risks as early as possible, and promote eugenics. So what are the key stages in the prenatal check-up process that cannot be missed, and which tests must be done?

1. When you find out you are pregnant

For those who are preparing for pregnancy, if you find that your period is late, you must consider whether you are pregnant. At this time, you can use a pregnancy test strip to test. If it is positive, you don’t need to go to the hospital for examination. However, if there is bleeding during the period, you must see a doctor in time to check whether the progesterone level and blood HCG are normal. Until more than 40 days, you must go for a check-up, especially B-ultrasound, to see if the gestational sac is in the uterine cavity to rule out ectopic pregnancy, and also to check whether there is a fetal heartbeat. If there is no fetal heartbeat during B-ultrasound at this time, don't worry, you can just come back for a follow-up visit in a week.

2. 5-12 weeks of pregnancy

Generally, you can go to the hospital outpatient department to create a pregnancy examination file and do the first prenatal check-up within 5-12 weeks. Some hospitals start to create prenatal check-ups at 5 weeks. The first prenatal check-up is all about basic tests: height, weight, blood pressure, fetal abdominal circumference, blood and urine tests, electrocardiogram, renal function, viral infection and so on. Now there is an important test, which is the NT value of B-ultrasound test. NT refers to the nuchal translucency of the fetus. NT test is one of the diagnostic bases for early Down syndrome screening. The test is mainly to diagnose chromosomal diseases in the early stages of pregnancy and to detect fetal abnormalities caused by various reasons.
