How to relieve postpartum depression

How to relieve postpartum depression

Many women will experience postpartum depression after giving birth. We should pay attention to postpartum depression. Many women have severe postpartum depression, which will have a great impact on their physical health and family. Some women even commit suicide due to postpartum depression. Therefore, it is most important to find a good way to regulate it in time when you discover postpartum depression. If a woman becomes depressed after giving birth, she must make good psychological adjustments, get more rest, and if conditions permit, you can hire a nanny or confinement nanny to help you share the tiredness and hardship of raising a child. You should also communicate more with your family or friends and eat a healthy diet. This is the only way to effectively prevent and treat postpartum depression.

Ways to relieve postpartum depression:

1. Get enough sleep

Many people have heard the advice that mothers should try to get some sleep when their baby is sleeping, but in fact many mothers do not take this advice because they may use the time when their baby is napping to do other things. In fact, if mothers can make up for lost sleep, their chances of feeling depressed are reduced. You may need friends, family, or even hired help to help you get the rest you want.

2. Suitable room conditions

The role of environmental factors in postpartum depression and insomnia cannot be ignored. The maternity room should have sufficient sunlight, and the windows should be opened for ventilation every day to replace the polluted air in the room and keep the indoor air fresh. This should be done even in winter. If you are worried about the pregnant woman catching a cold, you can let the mother and baby stay in another room for a while when the room is ventilated.

3. Make good psychological adjustments

First of all, women should be mentally prepared for pregnancy and childbirth. This is a psychological adjustment that should begin before and during pregnancy, which can greatly reduce the incidence of postpartum depression. Secondly, postpartum women should not receive too many guests immediately and should maintain a quiet rest environment. Women who are new mothers must be busy and flustered. At this time, they should not let external trivial matters interfere with their emotions too much to reduce anxiety, tension and other negative emotions.

4. Don’t overwork yourself

Mothers who have just given birth should also pay attention to ensuring adequate sleep and avoid overwork.

5. Relaxation and recharging method

Leave your children to be taken care of by others temporarily, and let yourself and your loved one take a short vacation, watch a movie, go shopping, and avoid mental and emotional overdraft.

6. Share your concerns with others

When you feel that something is wrong, talk to the people around you, such as your husband, tell him how you feel, express your worries, and let him help you share some of your burdens. You can also find a trusted friend or bestie to talk to about your mood and feelings.

7. Food therapy

Mothers usually eat a lot of supplements during the "confinement month" period, but they don't know that these foods can easily make people irritable, insomniac, anxious, and in severe cases, various signs of "getting angry" will appear. Therefore, you should eat more light foods, more fresh vegetables and fruits, drink more warm water, and adjust your physical and mental state from the inside out.
