Does a small uterus affect women's fertility?

Does a small uterus affect women's fertility?

The size of a woman's uterus is generally determined based on the normal values of length, width and height. The normal size of the uterus is 5.5-7.5 cm long, 4.5-5.5 cm wide, 3.0-4.0 cm thick, and the cervix is 2.5-3.0 cm long. Under normal circumstances, the sum of the three values is greater than 12 cm. The uterine cavity is an inverted triangle, about 6 cm deep, with the two upper corners being the "uterine horns" that lead to the fallopian tubes. The narrow lower end is called the "isthmus", which is about 1 cm long. The isthmus gradually expands during pregnancy and forms the lower uterine segment at the time of delivery. The ratio of the uterine body to the cervix varies with age, being 1:2 in infancy, 1:1 in adolescence, and 2:1 during the reproductive period.

So does a small uterus affect women's fertility? Now let's analyze it in detail.

"Small uterus" is one of the main reasons for infertility patients to seek medical treatment clinically. A uterus smaller than normal is medically called "uterine hypoplasia". Such patients are often accompanied by infrequent menstruation, amenorrhea or amenorrhea. "Uterine hypoplasia" is mainly caused by endocrine dysfunction, especially ovarian dysfunction causing insufficient secretion of estrogen and progesterone. In addition to causing poor uterine development, the greater disadvantage is that such patients often do not ovulate or have corpus luteum dysfunction. Therefore, multiple unfavorable factors cause infertility in women with uterine hypoplasia.

Therefore, if a woman's uterus is too small, it is also a very serious problem. It is recommended to adjust it in time. Generally, if it is not very serious, women with menstruation can usually get pregnant normally through medication. If it is particularly small and even affects normal fertility, the treatment prospects are generally not very good.
