What to do if you have abdominal pain after salpingography

What to do if you have abdominal pain after salpingography

Many women with fallopian tube diseases will undergo salpingography after following the doctor's advice, but many patients also report abdominal pain afterwards. This is generally caused by the stimulation of the uterus after the salpingography tube enters the uterine cavity. After the salpingography operation, this pain will generally disappear on its own. So what should I do if I have stomach pain after hysterosalpingography?

It is related to the obstruction of the fallopian tube or the inability to clear the fallopian tube and the patient's poor tolerance to pain. It is normal for patients to experience abdominal pain after hysterosalpingography. Generally, the recovery period is 7 days after the operation. Female patients need to undergo postoperative conditioning and consolidation to prevent inflammation, infection and other phenomena after hysterosalpingography.

Generally, you should pay attention to the following after salpingography:

1. Do not take a bath or have sexual intercourse for two weeks after angiography. Antibiotics may be given as appropriate to prevent infection.

2. Sometimes tubal spasm may cause the illusion of tubal obstruction. Repeat if necessary.

3. A small amount of vaginal bleeding within one week after the angiography is normal if there is no other discomfort. If the amount of bleeding is more than the menstrual volume or if there are other discomforts, you should contact your doctor.

4. It is best to practice contraception for three months after the contrast examination to reduce the possible effects of X-ray exposure. However, clinical observations have found that women who become pregnant in the same month after angiography do not have an increased risk of fetal abnormalities.

There are many reasons for abdominal pain after hysterosalpingography. It may be due to the entry of the contrast tube, which causes the uterus and fallopian tube to be unable to adapt. It may also be that the patient has poor pain tolerance and feels very uncomfortable. Generally speaking, these will eventually disappear on their own. If the pain persists, it is recommended to go to the hospital for consultation and treatment.
