The role of progesterone levels in ectopic pregnancy

The role of progesterone levels in ectopic pregnancy

The size of the progesterone value determines the possibility of ectopic pregnancy. Ectopic pregnancy is an abnormal pregnancy reaction. Ectopic pregnancy is dangerous for pregnant women. If necessary, the pregnancy needs to be terminated to ensure the safety of the pregnant woman's life. Therefore, detecting the size of the progesterone value is still a very necessary task. Let's take a look at the role of the progesterone value in ectopic pregnancy.

Progesterone assay

Progesterone measurement is mainly used to determine ovulation, monitor progesterone therapy and evaluate early pregnancy status, and is particularly important in determining the functional status of the corpus luteum.

2. Clinical Significance

Understand pregnancy status: After ovulation, if the egg is fertilized, the corpus luteum continues to secrete progesterone. Starting from the 7th week of pregnancy, the placenta secretes progesterone in an amount that exceeds the corpus luteum of the ovary. When placental function declines during pregnancy, progesterone levels in the blood decrease. In case of ectopic pregnancy, the progesterone level is low. If the progesterone level is >78.0nmol/L (25ng/ml), ectopic pregnancy can be basically ruled out. If the single progesterone level is ≤15.6nmol/L (5ng/ml), it indicates a stillbirth. During threatened miscarriage, if the progesterone level shows a downward trend, miscarriage may occur. The amount of urinary pregnanediol excretion during pregnancy varies greatly among individuals, making it difficult to estimate placental function, so it is rarely used clinically.

Exclusion of ectopic pregnancy in the third uterus

1. The determination of serum progesterone is helpful in judging the development of the embryo in a normal pregnancy. In ectopic pregnancy, serum progesterone levels are low, mostly between 10-25ng/ml. If the serum progesterone value is >25ng/ml, the probability of ectopic pregnancy is less than 1.5%; if its value is <5ng/ml, intrauterine pregnancy abortion or ectopic pregnancy should be considered.

2 In the case of ectopic pregnancy, the progesterone value will be lower than 10ng/m1. Therefore, when the progesterone test result is higher than this value, the possibility of ectopic pregnancy is small. In the case of ectopic pregnancy, the progesterone value will be lower than 10ng/m1. Therefore, when the progesterone test result is higher than this value, the possibility of ectopic pregnancy is small.

After reading the above content, you will have some understanding of the size of the progesterone value in ectopic pregnancy. In the future, you can apply the above knowledge when you have a pregnant woman at home. Now husbands, read the above content carefully and be a qualified father. The size of the progesterone value is still very useful. Pregnant women should be careful about ectopic pregnancy and protect their health.
