Causes of low blood pressure during pregnancy

In fact, in daily life, many female friends still do not pay attention to their physical health after pregnancy, and still do some unhealthy things for their bodies, which will lead to low blood pressure. So let us understand the reasons for low blood pressure after pregnancy.

main reason:

Theoretically, a blood pressure below 140/90 and above 90/60 mmHg is normal, but many healthy women have very low blood pressure. In the early and middle stages of pregnancy, blood pressure decreases due to blood dilution, vasodilation, arteriovenous shunt and other reasons. In the later stages of pregnancy, blood pressure increases and is high.

Since the incidence of hypertension among young women is relatively low, few people usually care about their blood pressure. Little do people know that due to some physiological changes after pregnancy, women's blood pressure is often prone to fluctuate, and may even develop hypotension syndrome or pregnancy-induced hypertension syndrome, posing a threat to the health of pregnant women and fetuses. Therefore, pregnant women should pay special attention to their blood pressure.

Hypotensive syndrome is common in late pregnancy. Due to the expansion of peripheral blood vessels and the formation of a "short-circuit" circulation in the placental veins, the blood flow in the inferior vena cava, the amount of blood returning to the heart, and the cardiac output all increase, reaching a peak at 28 to 32 weeks of pregnancy and then gradually declining. During the 28th to 32nd week of pregnancy, when the pregnant woman lies in the supine position, the enlarged uterus compresses the inferior vena cava, causing the amount of blood returning to the heart to suddenly decrease in a short period of time, leading to a drop in blood pressure and insufficient blood supply to the brain. Some pregnant women will experience symptoms such as dizziness, palpitations, cold sweats, nausea and vomiting, and black spots in front of their eyes. These phenomena are medically known as "supine hypotension syndrome." At this time, as long as the pregnant woman turns to the healthy side, the pressure of the uterus on the inferior vena cava will be immediately relieved, and the above symptoms will disappear. When the symptoms are severe, in addition to the above manifestations, it can also cause rupture and bleeding of the decidual artery, leading to early placental detachment. Therefore, in order to prevent the occurrence of supine hypotension syndrome, the supine position should be avoided as much as possible during pregnancy.

As mentioned above, pregnancy-induced hypertension is a disease unique to pregnant women. During pregnancy poisoning, nervous and endocrine dysfunctions and vascular motor dysfunctions can cause spasms in small arteries throughout the body, increase peripheral resistance, and raise blood pressure. In addition, while systemic arterioles are spasming, renal arterioles are spasming, leading to renal ischemia, which increases renin secretion and angiotensin formation, and can aggravate systemic arterioles spasm and cause blood pressure to rise. Proteinuria is caused by renal arteriole spasm and renal ischemia and hypoxia, which increase the permeability of the glomerular wall and cause the protein in the plasma to enter the primary urine.

Pregnancy-induced hypertension is divided into mild, moderate and severe. But no matter which type it is, it must be treated and handled. Therefore, women who are 20 weeks pregnant must have their urine protein tested and blood pressure measured every two weeks. After 30 weeks, check once a week until delivery. In addition, regular testing of urine protein and blood pressure measurement are not only beneficial for women who already have hypertension or kidney disease before pregnancy, but are also the main monitoring measures that must be taken during pregnancy.

The above article gives you a detailed introduction to the reasons for low blood pressure after pregnancy. I believe you already have a preliminary understanding, so in daily life, if such a situation occurs, go to the hospital for examination in time.
