What to do if you have stomach pain after your period ends

We all know that women always have abdominal pain during menstruation, and the severity of the pain varies from person to person. But recently many women have reported that their stomachs still hurt after their menstrual period ends, and it is very unbearable, and they don’t know why. So today we will introduce to you what causes stomach pain after menstruation? How should we relieve it?

Severe lower abdominal pain during menstruation that disappears naturally after menstruation is called dysmenorrhea. Most dysmenorrhea occurs during menstruation, and for some people it occurs a few days before menstruation. The abdominal pain worsens after menstruation, but everything is normal after menstruation. The characteristics of abdominal pain are closely related to menstruation. Abdominal pain will not occur if menstruation does not come. Therefore, abdominal pain that is not related to menstruation is not dysmenorrhea.

Dysmenorrhea can be divided into primary dysmenorrhea and secondary dysmenorrhea. Primary dysmenorrhea refers to abdominal pain that occurs from the beginning of menstruation, while secondary dysmenorrhea refers to abdominal pain during menstruation that occurs several years or even more than ten years after menstruation. The causes of the two types of dysmenorrhea are different. The causes of primary dysmenorrhea are a narrow uterine opening, uterine hypoplasia, or large pieces of endometrium in the menstrual blood. The latter condition is called membranous dysmenorrhea. Sometimes menstrual blood contains blood clots, which can also cause lower abdominal pain. The causes of secondary dysmenorrhea are mostly caused by diseases, such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic congestion, etc. In recent years, it has been discovered that increased synthesis of prostaglandins in the endometrium can also cause dysmenorrhea. Therefore, it is necessary to determine the cause of dysmenorrhea through examination and then treat it accordingly.

Dietary adjustment for dysmenorrhea: Women experience pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral area before, during, or after menstruation. In severe cases, the pain is severe, the face becomes pale, the hands and feet become cold, and there may even be fainting. This is called "dysmenorrhea" or "abdominal pain during menstruation." The pain often lasts for several hours or 1-2 days. Generally, the abdominal pain will be relieved after the menstrual blood flows smoothly. This disease is more common in young women and is one of the common diseases among women.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that dysmenorrhea is mostly caused by poor circulation of Qi and blood or deficiency of Qi and blood. Common clinical symptoms include qi stagnation and blood stasis, cold stagnation in the uterus, qi and blood deficiency, and dampness and heat. Diet therapy can play a better preventive and therapeutic role. Patients with dysmenorrhea should eat light and easily digestible food within 3-5 days before menstruation. You should eat food that is easy to digest and absorb, and you should not eat too much. In particular, you should avoid eating raw and cold foods, because raw and cold foods can stimulate the contraction of the uterus and fallopian tubes, thereby inducing or aggravating dysmenorrhea. Once menstruation has started, you should avoid all raw, cold, indigestible and irritating foods, such as chili peppers, raw onions, raw garlic, pepper, strong liquor, etc. During this period, patients can eat some sour foods, such as sauerkraut, vinegar, etc. Sour foods can relieve pain.

The above are the causes and relief methods of abdominal pain after menstruation introduced to us by professionals, so we should pay more attention to our living habits and take care of our bodies. Don't catch a cold when your period comes or goes, otherwise it will cause stomach pain after your period ends.
