How to use ovulation test strips and their results

Ovulation test strips are not unfamiliar to some women who are eager to conceive. However, you may not be clear about its principles, methods of use, and the meaning of its results. Now you can continue reading to learn about the relevant knowledge and understand what it means when the ovulation test strip shows one deep and one shallow, so as to seize the best time to conceive.

Ovulation test strips, whose general name is luteinizing hormone test strips (colloidal gold immunochromatography), are used to qualitatively detect luteinizing hormone (LH) in human urine, thereby determining the time of ovulation and the "safe period" in women's menstrual cycle, so as to achieve the purpose of choosing the best time for conception or using the "safe period" for contraception. It is an in vitro test and auxiliary diagnosis of women's ovulation period. It is recommended to start testing on the tenth day of menstruation and test once a day with an ovulation test strip. If you find that the test is gradually getting stronger, you should increase the frequency of testing. It is best to test every 4 hours. Try to measure a strong positive and seize the moment when the strong positive turns weak. Ovulation occurs when the strong positive turns weak. If you find that it is weakening rapidly, it means that the egg is about to break out of the shell, so you have to hurry! Ovulation will definitely occur within 24 hours, and you cannot drink water 2 hours before taking the ovulation test. Do not test with morning urine, it is best to test between 10-20 o'clock. After the strong positive turns weak, continue to test the ovulation test paper. Don't be afraid of wasting the ovulation test paper. Keep testing until it becomes negative. You can rest for a few days at this time. Start testing the ovulation test paper every day 10 days after ovulation. If a strong positive is found, the hope of pregnancy is great. You can use an early pregnancy test paper. Generally, the early pregnancy test paper at this time will be a weak positive. If you need to do B-ultrasound monitoring, it is best to go to the hospital for B-ultrasound immediately if the ovulation test paper shows a positive result.

During the test, the LH in the urine sample combines with the pre-solidified β-LH monoclonal antibody colloidal gold on the sample pad of the test paper to form a complex. The complex migrates upward to the test line (T) area due to the capillary action of the membrane and reacts with the a-LH antibody on the membrane to form a red strip. Regardless of whether LH is present in the sample, when the liquid level continues to migrate to the control line (C) area, a red strip will definitely appear in this area. If the color of the red strip in the test line area (T) is darker or similar to that of the red strip in the control line area (C), it indicates a positive result, indicating that the subject is in the ovulation period; if the color of the red strip in the test line area (T) is lighter than that of the red strip in the control line area (C), it indicates a negative result, indicating that the subject is not in the ovulation period. The red stripe in the control line area (C) is the standard for judging whether there is enough specimen and whether the chromatography process is normal. It also serves as the internal control standard of the reagent.
