What is Luteinized Unruptured Follicle Syndrome?

Luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome, this name looks long, many people do not know what it means, but it is closely related to women's lives, and if you want to get pregnant, it is basically impossible to have luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome, so if a female friend unfortunately suffers from luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome, you must be cautious, then what is luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome?

The luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome refers to the situation in which the follicle matures but does not rupture, the oocyte is not discharged but luteinized in situ, forming a corpus luteum and secreting progesterone, and a series of changes in the somatic effector organs similar to the ovulation cycle occur. The main clinical features are long menstrual cycles, similar ovulation symptoms but persistent infertility. It is a special type of anovulatory menstruation and one of the important causes of infertility.

The cause of LUFS is still unclear. Most people believe that it is related to central regulatory disorders, local disorders, and mental and psychological factors. The incidence rate varies from report to report, but most believe that it occurs in about 5% to 10% of natural menstrual cycles and about 30% to 40% of drug-induced ovulation cycles. According to dynamic B-ultrasound monitoring, it can be divided into three types: small follicle type, follicle retention type and continuous enlargement type.

Luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome was first proposed by Jewelewicz in 1975 as a condition in which the follicle luteinizes without rupture and was named LUFS. In 1978, Marik et al. used laparoscope to directly observe the surface of the ovary and found that some early corpora lutea did not have ovulatory hiatus, which further confirmed the finding. Because the patients' clinical manifestations are hidden and their menstrual cycles are normal, they are easily overlooked and misdiagnosed as "unexplained" infertility. However, the causes of the disease are complex, and observation methods such as laparoscopy are traumatic and difficult to accept. There are few reports and studies on the infertility bed, and there is still a lack of unified diagnostic standards, which brings corresponding difficulties to diagnosis and treatment. Therefore, it is listed as a difficult problem in clinical research on gynecological reproductive endocrinology.

There is no corresponding disease name in traditional Chinese medicine, and it is mostly classified as "infertility".

Through the above introduction, I believe you already know what luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome is. Then, if a female friend is diagnosed with luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome during a physical examination, she must not be afraid or abnormally nervous, but actively seek treatment according to the doctor's guidance.
