Explanation of infertility examination items for women

A baby is the hope of every family, but some couples have normal sexual life but are unable to conceive. Infertile women who come to the hospital for the first time often do not understand the various examinations that follow, and can only passively accept all the examinations the doctor tells them to do. But if you can understand the common tests for female infertility and be mentally prepared, the upcoming test will not be so difficult to accept. So what are the infertility tests for women?

Female infertility is divided into tubal infertility, vulvar/vaginal infertility, cervical infertility, uterine infertility, ovarian infertility, immune infertility, endocrine infertility, sexual intercourse factor infertility and infertility caused by systemic diseases. Female infertility is caused by insufficient kidney qi or imbalance of Chong and Ren qi and blood. Obvious symptoms include infertility for many years after marriage, light menstrual flow, which is initially like bean paste and then bright red, headache a week before each menstruation, followed by breast swelling that is relieved after the menstruation, etc. So what are the infertility tests for women?

First, the doctor will ask in detail about the marriage age and health status, sexual life, whether there are any contraceptive measures, the specific methods and time; the menstrual cycle, menstrual period, and whether there is dysmenorrhea. Past history focuses on whether there is inflammation, tuberculosis, especially tuberculosis of the reproductive system, treatment history, and whether there are other endocrine diseases. If it is secondary infertility, the patient's previous history of miscarriage, delivery, postpartum infection and treatment should be understood.

According to the editor, major hospitals mainly use five methods: immunological examination, endocrine function test, hysterosalpingography, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy.

1. Immunological examination: This method can understand whether there are anti-sperm antibodies. In addition to anti-sperm antibody testing, post-coital tests and in vitro sperm penetration tests can also be performed to understand it.

2. Endocrine function measurement: For example, measuring serum estrogen and progesterone levels at different times of the menstrual cycle to understand the ovarian function; measuring the basal metabolic rate to understand the thyroid function; conducting adrenal function tests and serum prolactin measurements, etc.

3. Hysterosalpingography: For women without inflammation in the reproductive tract, contrast agent is injected into the uterus under B-ultrasound 3 to 7 days after the menstruation ends to observe the filling of the uterus and fallopian tubes with the contrast agent.

4. Hysteroscopy: Hysteroscopy can be used to understand the situation in the uterine cavity and to detect lesions that may cause infertility, such as uterine adhesions, submucosal fibroids, polyps, and uterine malformations. Treatment can also be performed under direct visual guidance of the hysteroscope during examination.

5. Laparoscopic examination: If you need to further understand the pelvic condition, laparoscopy can be used. Laparoscopic examination can directly observe whether the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries have any lesions or adhesions, and determine whether the fallopian tubes are unobstructed; about 20% of patients can be found to have lesions that were not diagnosed before surgery through laparoscopy.

The above are several methods of checking female infertility introduced by the editor. After the introduction, do you have some understanding of the common examinations for female infertility? If a woman really has infertility symptoms, she can choose to check it out. She should see a doctor as soon as possible to eliminate worries. She should receive timely treatment so that she can give birth to a healthy and beautiful baby.
