Does biochemical pregnancy mean that you have been pregnant?

Does biochemical pregnancy mean that you have been pregnant?

Ectopic pregnancy refers to the combination of sperm and egg into the uterus, and began to implant and fuse in the uterine wall. This process is called embryo implantation. But the embryo does not return to the uterus to implant, or it goes home and does not have sexual intercourse. This is called ectopic pregnancy. So is an ectopic pregnancy equivalent to having been pregnant? Let’s learn about it below.

In clinical medicine, the term "ectopic pregnancy" may have three meanings:

1. Ectopic pregnancy is an early stage of normal pregnancy

"Ectopic pregnancy" means that the test tube embryo has implanted, and the β-HCG secreted by the test tube embryo trophoblast has entered the pregnant mother's blood and reached a detectable level. This is because the pregnancy has only progressed to the stage that can only be detected by microbiological methods, and has not yet developed to the stage where the fetal sac can be detected by B-ultrasound. If the pregnancy continues to the stage where the fetal sac can be found in the uterine cavity by B-ultrasound, it is called "clinical pregnancy"

If a pregnancy is lost before 28 weeks of pregnancy after clinical pregnancy, we call it "miscarriage". Therefore, ectopic pregnancy may only refer to the early stages of pregnancy, and the outcome of test tube embryos is uncertain.

Second, ectopic pregnancy only refers to the test tube embryo naturally stopped before the fetal sac is produced.

Ectopic pregnancy can also refer to the embryo implantation in the test tube, but later due to some reasons, the test tube embryo could not continue healthy development and withered, and the β-HCG level in the blood also decreased; it is often called "ectopic pregnancy". Accurate testing of β-HCG shows that the incidence of pregnancy loss after the fertilized egg implantation is about 31%; while the incidence of miscarriage after clinical pregnancy is about 15%. The mechanism of ectopic pregnancy is still unclear at this stage. Its influencing factors may be various, and may be related to the growth potential of the test tube embryo itself, the receptivity of the uterine wall, the hypercoagulable state of the pregnant mother, and the hormonal imbalance of the embryo.

The pregnancy loss occurred early, and we were too late to detect the formation of the gestational sac in the uterine cavity through B-ultrasound, so the pregnancy was terminated. In the past, we also called it "early failure of test tube embryo" and "early pregnancy miscarriage."

3. Possible ectopic pregnancy (ectopic pregnancy) miscarriage

In medical English, we often procrastinate and are afraid to define ectopic pregnancy as miscarriage, because there is another possibility. The fertilized egg implants in areas outside the uterine wall cavity, such as the fallopian tubes, cervix, ovaries, etc., and cannot continue to grow and develop, so it is a memory. Since we did not find the fetal sac in the uterine cavity, in such an early pregnancy, curettage often does not provide evidence of intrauterine pregnancy. How can we prove where the test tube embryo has implanted? You cannot deny or defeat the possibility of this potential ectopic pregnancy.

"Ectopic pregnancy" means that your angel baby has been here before, but she only stayed for a short time and then left secretly. Just like saying goodbye to Cambridge, I am slowly getting tired, just as I came slowly, I wave my sleeves and don't take a cloud with me.

A single ectopic pregnancy or miscarriage is random, and you can try to get pregnant again; if you have multiple ectopic pregnancies, especially for those who became pregnant after in vitro fertilization treatment, you need to seek help from a doctor to find the cause.

Therefore, ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage both fall into the category of test tube embryo or pregnancy loss, but they occur in different physiological stages and are not the same thing. At present, according to the strict and detailed industry diagnostic standards, we cannot define ectopic pregnancy as a history of miscarriage. Likewise, it does not count as a pregnancy.
