Recovery from episiotomy during childbirth

Recovery from episiotomy during childbirth

Many female friends who have given birth will have an episiotomy during delivery. Episiotomy helps the baby to be delivered, but what everyone does not know is that the wound from episiotomy is difficult to recover after delivery. If it does not recover well, it can easily cause inflammation. Next, I will introduce to you the recovery of episiotomy wounds during delivery.

Recovery after surgery

Many mothers believe that episiotomy is bearable, but the 1 to 2 weeks after the operation are the most difficult. Of course, taking painkillers is the most direct way to relieve pain, but you can also take some physical therapy to make the wound recover as quickly as possible:

* Take a sitz bath. Fill your tub with warm water. Make a special cushion with ice packs.

*Wound care. When you clean, you can fill a sterilized bottle with water and use the jet of water to rinse the wound, or pat the area around the perineum with water. This feels much better than dry rubbing.

*Use lubricant. After resuming intimacy between couples, lubricant can be used to avoid further involvement of the recovered muscle tissue.

There are some things to note during wound recovery:

Before removing the stitches, the wound should be rinsed twice a day and once after defecation to avoid contamination of the wound by excrement; after removing the stitches, if the lochia has not yet cleared, you should still insist on rinsing the vulva with warm water twice a day. At the same time, keep your bowels open to prevent the wound from splitting. When defecating, it is best to sit down and try to shorten the time. In addition, the inside of the wound is not yet firm after the stitches are removed, so it is best not to exercise too much or make large movements.

In addition, if the wound has the following conditions, you should tell your doctor in time and ask her to deal with it:

*Wound hematoma: Severe pain will appear at the incision site 1 to 2 hours after suturing, and it will become more and more severe, and even a feeling of heaviness and distension in the anus may occur.

*Wound infection: 2 to 3 days after delivery, the wound will show symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, and pain, sometimes accompanied by nodules, and purulent secretions when squeezed.

*Wound dehiscence after stitches are removed: Some women may experience wound dehiscence after stitches are removed. If they have been discharged from the hospital, they should go to the hospital for examination and treatment immediately.

The above introduces the recovery of episiotomy wounds during childbirth. In life, everyone should pay attention to their wound care. After giving birth, do not eat overly spicy foods or irritating foods. These are not allowed for the health of yourself and your baby.
