What is the reason why my period is black?

If one day when you have your period, you find that the color of your menstrual discharge is black, you will definitely be very worried, mainly because you are worried about your body’s health! Therefore, we must take precautions against such situations in our daily lives. To prevent them, we first need to know the causes of such symptoms so that we can take appropriate preventive measures. So what is the reason why menstruation is black?

Black menstruation is caused by qi stagnation and blood stasis, and the menstrual blood has been stagnant in the uterus for a long time. There are mainly the following situations where black menstruation will appear:

1. Qi and blood deficiency causes black menstruation: early or late menstruation, increased or decreased menstrual volume, prolonged menstruation, light color, thin quality. Or pain in the lower abdomen, or dizziness, or fatigue, pale or sallow complexion, poor appetite and loose stools. Pale red tongue, weak pulse

2. Black menstruation due to cold blood: delayed menstruation, less menstruation, dark color with blood clots. Cold pain in the lower abdomen, relieved by heat, fear of cold and cold limbs. White tongue coating, deep and tight pulse. Treatment should be to warm the meridians and dispel cold.

3. Black menstruation due to kidney deficiency: irregular menstrual cycle, small amount, light red or dark red color, thin texture. Weak waist and knees, heel pain, dizziness, tinnitus, or cold lower abdomen, or frequent urination at night. Pale tongue, weak or slow pulse. Treatment should be to tonify the kidney and regulate menstruation.

4. Dark menstrual color may be related to inflammation. In fact, the menstrual blood that comes every month is the blood flowing in the blood vessels in the body, and it should be bright red. However, because menstrual blood is mixed with sloughed endometrial fragments, cervical mucus and vaginal epithelial cells, it looks dark in color and is not as bright red as the blood flowing out of broken skin. There are also some small thin fragments mixed in the menstrual blood. In particular, some people have less menstrual blood, and the color becomes darker as the blood stays in the uterus and vagina for a longer time.

From the above we have learned that these reasons may cause the color of menstruation to become darker. No matter what the reason is, it proves that our body is unhealthy. We need to regulate our bodies in time, get rid of the trouble of black menstruation as soon as possible, and restore our health as soon as possible.
