Prevention measures for candidal vaginitis

Vaginal candidiasis is a common gynecological disease in women, also known as vaginal candidiasis. Quite a number of women have suffered from candidal vaginitis at least once in their lives. Generally, there are some fungi living in the vagina of women, but the number is small and usually no disease will occur. However, when the systemic immunity and local immunity of the vagina decrease, the fungi will multiply in large numbers and corresponding symptoms will appear. So what preventive measures do we have?

(1) Exercise, eat a balanced diet, and avoid foods high in sugar.

(2) Develop good hygiene habits: wash your hands before going to the toilet; do not abuse unclean toilet paper; wipe the vulva from front to back after defecation; wash the vulva every day, change underwear and put it in a ventilated place to dry; use your own basin and towel for your own use; wash underwear and socks in different basins.

(3) Dress appropriately: Do not wear synthetic underwear, and do not borrow other people’s underwear, panties, or swimsuits.

(4) When using public toilets, try to avoid sitting on toilets; it is recommended to take a shower instead of taking a bath in a basin; do not sit directly on the bathroom seat after bathing; do not swim in a swimming pool that is not properly disinfected.

(5) Not paying too much attention to hygiene: Some patients say during consultation that they pay great attention to hygiene and wash their vulva 2-3 times a day, using a douche or their hands to clean their vagina each time. In fact, this practice is wrong. Because the vaginal environment is slightly acidic and there are many bacterial flora coexisting, the mutual restraint between the flora can inhibit the excessive growth of certain bacteria and cause disease. This is a natural defense system of the human body. Cleaning the vagina will undoubtedly destroy the weak acid environment of the vagina and the mutual restraint between bacteria, which will reduce the disease resistance of the vaginal epithelium and cause vaginitis caused by Candida or other bacteria.

(6) Do not abuse antibiotics: Long-term and excessive use of antibiotics will destroy the inhibitory relationship between vaginal bacteria, causing Candida to lose its ability to inhibit excessive growth and cause disease.

(7) If women who take contraceptive pills suffer from repeated bouts of candidal vaginitis, they should stop taking contraceptive pills and switch to other contraceptive methods.

Under normal circumstances, vaginal secretions are acidic, which can inhibit the activity, reproduction and ascent of pathogenic bacteria, and inflammation is generally not easy to occur. When the acidity and alkalinity of vaginal secretions change, or when special pathogens invade, an inflammatory response can be caused. The prevention of candidal vaginitis is extremely important. If we unfortunately get this gynecological disease, it will affect our normal and healthy life, so we must pay attention to the prevention of candidal vaginitis.
