What causes polycystic ovary?

1. Family genetic factors: Based on the map of the high incidence areas of polycystic ovary, the characteristics of high family clustering are clearly shown. Therefore, genetic factors are a very important factor in its etiology. Most cases of polycystic ovary are related to genetic abnormalities, and a few cases are related to chromosomal abnormalities. This cause of disease is difficult to avoid, and the only way is to detect and treat it early.

2. Long-term mental stress and drug effects: If a woman is in a state of mental stress for a long time and is affected by drugs and certain diseases, the regulatory function of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis will become abnormal, leading to excessive production of androgens by ovarian interstitial and theca cells. High androgen levels in the ovaries inhibit the maturation of follicles, resulting in a series of symptoms of polycystic ovary such as amenorrhea and hirsutism.

3. Hyperinsulinemia: Some women with polycystic ovary, especially those who are too obese, may show hyperinsulinemia and insulin resistance. There are many causes of insulin resistance. In most cases, it is caused by disorders in the information conduction system after the insulin receptor, but it can also be caused by insulin receptor defects.

4. Abnormal adrenal function: Studies have shown that 50% of polycystic ovary patients have abnormal adrenal cortex function, which is often due to hyperfunction of the adrenal cortex, leading to excessive secretion of androgen and symptoms such as anovulation. Diseases that cause adrenal cortex dysfunction mainly include adrenal tumors and adrenal cortical hyperplasia.

The ovaries are a very important part for every woman. If there is a problem with the ovaries, it will bring a lot of harm to women, so patients should pay more attention to the maintenance of the ovaries.
