Specific massage techniques for milk production

I believe everyone knows the importance of breast milk to babies. Breast milk is the best food for babies. However, we know that many mothers are prone to insufficient breast milk secretion. So what methods can we use to help these mothers produce milk? In fact, there are many ways to increase milk production. We can not only use dietary supplements to increase milk production, but also use traditional Chinese medicine massage to help increase milk production.

The principle of massage to promote lactation is to regulate qi and activate blood circulation, relax muscles and tendons, and dredge meridians. The basic techniques used include tapping, pressing, kneading and holding. However, in actual application, multiple techniques must be coordinated with each other.

When inducing lactation, in order to prevent skin damage during massage, hands and breasts are usually lubricated with sesame oil or lotion first, and then the palms of both hands are used to gently push and stroke along the mammary ducts from all sides of the breasts towards the nipples to promote blood circulation and unclog the mammary ducts. If there is a lump on the breast, you should push from the good part to the lump until the entire breast becomes soft. Finally, use your thumb and index finger to squeeze around the areola to more effectively promote lactation.

Mothers can also use a clean towel dipped in warm water, and wipe in a circular motion from the center of the nipple to the areola, for 15 minutes on each side, while assisting with the following massage methods:

Circular massage: Place your hands above and below the breasts and massage the entire breast in a circular direction;

Spiral massage: Hold the breast with one hand, and use the index and middle fingers of the other hand to massage in a spiral shape towards the nipple;

Acupressure massage: Place your hands on both sides of your breasts and squeeze from the breasts to the nipples.

Women are prone to breast inflammation during lactation. You must pay attention to the technique when massaging. If the technique is inaccurate or the force is too strong, it may cause the gland duct to become more blocked, and in severe cases it may cause inflammation. In addition, breastfeeding mothers should also pay attention to breast hygiene. Mothers who work while breastfeeding should not delay their normal milk expression time due to work. Generally speaking, it should be squeezed every two to three hours, otherwise inflammation may occur.

In the above article, we introduced a symptom that is common among postpartum women, that is, insufficient breast milk secretion. We recommend that postpartum women with insufficient breast milk secretion find ways to increase milk production. The above article introduces in detail the specific massage techniques for increasing milk production. We hope that it will be of some help to everyone.
