How big is a normal follicle?

How big is a normal follicle? How to detect it? The follicle is composed of an oocyte and many small follicular cells around it. Follicle monitoring can help women understand whether their ovaries are growing, developing, and releasing eggs normally, which is crucial to their successful conception. So, how do women monitor follicles? Let’s take a look at it together, and we hope it will be helpful to everyone.

What is the normal size of an ovarian follicle? According to the morphological and functional changes in the process of follicle development, it can be divided into three stages: primordial follicles, growing follicles and mature follicles. Women are born with primordial follicles. Newborns have 700,000 to 2 million primordial follicles on both sides of the ovaries, and by puberty there are about 40,000 primordial follicles.

How to do follicle monitoring?

Follicle monitoring is generally done through B-ultrasound monitoring. Follicle monitoring is an ultrasound test that starts at the end of menstruation to monitor the size and number of follicles. By around the 14th day of menstruation, the follicle will reach 15-25 mm, which means it is a mature follicle capable of ovulation, and it is easiest to get pregnant at this time. If no mature follicles are detected, conception will not occur.

Vaginal B-ultrasound is generally used to monitor ovarian follicles, and there is no need to hold urine. Generally speaking, starting from the 8th day of the menstrual cycle, ultrasound monitoring is performed once every 2 days. When the diameter of the follicle is found to be 17 mm, monitoring must be changed to once a day. When the follicle matures and reaches a diameter of 20-23 mm, it is necessary to measure twice a day until ovulation.

You should have a certain understanding about the normal size of follicles. Knowing this knowledge is very helpful for us to have children. Here I suggest that when you cannot conceive normally, you should go to the hospital for follicle monitoring to monitor whether the woman's ovulation function is normal. Through the above understanding, I believe women must have their own understanding.
