Why pregnant women are always thirsty

Pregnant women will always experience various symptoms during pregnancy, and as long as they feel uncomfortable, the whole family will be concerned. Pregnant women will experience various early pregnancy symptoms in the early stages of pregnancy, and everyone has become accustomed to it. But what is the reason why pregnant women are always thirsty? Will there be any problem? Let’s take a look at the reasons why pregnant women are always thirsty.

There are many reasons why pregnant women feel thirsty. The metabolic rate and body temperature of pregnant women are higher than those of ordinary people, so the water in their bodies is easily consumed and evaporated; frequent urination and increased saliva also excrete a large amount of water from the body. After pregnancy, the blood volume increases, and the amniotic fluid needed to nurture the fetus also increases, which requires the mother to take in enough water. Therefore, pregnant women experience more severe thirst than ordinary people.

In order to ensure normal metabolism in the body, pregnant women should consume at least 2000 ml of water every day. In addition to boiled water, you should also consume more fruit and vegetable juice, which can not only replenish water but also supplement vitamins. Pregnant women can also replenish a lot of water in their bodies by eating more foods such as lettuce and cucumber which have high water content.

However, even if you are very thirsty, pregnant women should avoid drinking beverages containing caffeine, because caffeine has diuretic and nerve stimulating effects. Once consumed, it will not only affect your sleep, but also aggravate frequent urination, and in severe cases may lead to dehydration.

Pregnant women who are always thirsty should drink more water. The precautions for pregnant women to drink water are as follows:

1. Pregnant women should drink a glass of fresh cold boiled water after getting up in the morning. Drinking water on an empty stomach in the morning can be quickly absorbed by the gastrointestinal tract into the blood, diluting the blood and dilating blood vessels, thereby speeding up blood circulation and replenishing the water lost by cells at night.

2. Pregnant women should never drink water only when they are thirsty. Thirst indicates that the body's water balance is out of balance and brain cells are dehydrated to a certain extent. Pregnant women should drink water every two hours, 8 times a day, for a total of 2000 ml.

3. Not all water can be drunk. Do not drink water that has been boiled for a long time or repeatedly boiled; pregnant women should never drink unboiled tap water; do not drink tea brewed in a thermos cup; absolutely do not drink water contaminated by pollutants such as waste water, waste gas, and waste residue from industrial production; and do not drink the "leftover water" after steaming rice or steamed meat.

The above is an introduction to why pregnant women are always thirsty. In fact, it is normal for pregnant women to always feel thirsty. The main reason is that you don’t drink enough water. As long as you can ensure that you drink enough water that pregnant women should drink every day, the symptoms of always being thirsty will not be so obvious. Of course, pregnant women should also pay attention to the quality of water when drinking, and not drink it blindly, as this will have adverse effects on both themselves and the baby.
