The first choice of antipyretic medicine for pregnant women

During pregnancy, pregnant mothers need to provide the nutrition for both of them, otherwise the body's resistance will inevitably be poor. Fever and cold are problems encountered by many pregnant mothers, but during this special period, you cannot blindly use antipyretics. You can only reduce fever through other methods. Then let’s learn the appropriate way to reduce fever for pregnant women.

What are the preferred antipyretic drugs for pregnant women?

If you have a fever during pregnancy, you can use physical methods to reduce the fever if it is below 38.5 degrees. If the fever recurs and exceeds 38.5 degrees, you must go to the hospital for medical treatment in time. Pregnant women should drink more warm water during the fever period. Do not use drugs for treatment casually. All medications during pregnancy must be taken under the guidance of a doctor.

If the fever of a pregnant woman is not very high, below 38.5, she can use a cold cotton towel to apply to the body to reduce the temperature. First, use a cold cotton towel to wipe the following wrinkles on the body, such as under the armpits, neck, inner thighs, etc. Then wrap a few ice cubes in a cold towel and apply them under your armpits, forehead, hands, soles of feet, etc., and the body temperature will drop significantly soon. This method is more suitable for use in summer and is not likely to cause pregnant women to catch cold.

If a pregnant woman has a fever in winter, she should not apply ice but only heat. The basic principle of hot compress is to remove the heat from the human body through water evaporation to achieve the purpose of cooling. Pregnant women can apply heat to these areas, such as forehead, chest, back, neck, hands and soles of feet, which can effectively reduce the temperature.

However, while using such physical methods to reduce temperature, pregnant women should always check their body temperature. If the body temperature continues to rise and exceeds 39, you need to use some medicine to reduce the fever. You can go to the hospital to consult a doctor and take some medicines that will not affect the health of the fetus to reduce the fever.
